Hi Y'all, just bought a 2002 stilo JTD which had a faulty battery so i put a new one on,starter it up and now the power steering failure warning comes up on lcd and red steering wheel on dash. was working fine previously with the faulty battery so what could be causing this problem? does it just need computer plugging in and re-setting??

Need to check battery thermal and earth lead are connect properly I'd say.
Also was the battery fully charged when you fitted it? Often they loose charge if they've been sitting on a shelf for a few months.

It was fine with the old battery so i cant see that its anything to do with the terminals or cables. the new battery was at approx 12.5 volts so im wondering if i should try charging it up a bit and see if that works,although i asked if it needed to be charged when i picked it up from Kwik Fit and they said it didnt?? I was wondering if it needed to be reset on a computer as the last battery was faulty and went flat.
Well obviously they haven't been touched to change the battery have they.....A battery supplier will always say it won't need charging, just to get a sale, and again all depends how long its been sitting for.Nothing will need resetting on the computer, fault should self clear when its no longer there.
mate came round with computer and got rid of the eps fault all good now.........except for the airbag warning. squib and passenger stage 2?? i have removed the steering wheel airbag and checked connectors(all good) and removed glovebox and checked connections on passenger airbag (all good) but computer couldnt remove air bag light?? what could be the problem????
All still pointing towards the electrics, namely the battery.
So has all this occurred since replacing the battery?
No the airbag light was already on. i removed the steering wheel squib and checked wires were connected,all ok. And moved glovebox and checked connections on passenger air bag they also good. mates computer couldn,t swith light off but cnt seem to find the fault
Sounds like your mates kit isn't capable of speaking to fiats airbag systems, nt many are. Either need code from Fiat dealer, or use a cope of MULTIecuScan.net software will be cheaper
mates computer said was problem with steering wheel squib and passenger stage 2?? I took the steering wheel airbag off and checked the connection were good(all ok) and took out the passenger glove box to check the connections to the airbag again all ok. someone has messed about with the wiring and connectors under the seat tho
