Yep I got a pig panda....but most abarth selespeed end up with massive £££££s unless your cleaver enough to service parts such as the pump, which is guaranteed to go.

Got anything to back that up? They're not guaranteed to go. The same system is used on modern fiats and older Alfa's, yes some have issues but a lot don't. Of those that do have issues they're normally ones which have been neglected.

No I don't have any proof, only what I have observed, from what I have seen from the selespeed the brushes get worn and need to be replaced at approximately 80k the majority of breakers I have spoken to, and there have been many there always gearbox issues. A lot of owners in here also say that the clutch will need replacing at approximately 75k I see nothing but bad comments awful reviews and scare mongering, I'm willing it to be a good car for my sake but I'm selling this time bomb asap lol

My selespeed is the best car I have drove I have had 3 and never had gear box issues (touch wood) the best car I have owned and great fun to drive, such a lot if car for little money, if you look after her then she should look after u , just keep an eye on your oil as they do use it and allways remember to change the oil filter be carfull if taking it to a garage ad the filter is an absolute bastard to get off so some backstreet garages might just give it a rub down resulting in your abarth lading in the scrap yard due to oil starvation

To be fair when I got my car I had the following done....rear bushes full exhaust, front ball joints both drop links all disks and pads. Cambelt and water pump basically just ware and tear...then I find out the selespeed pump has gone so I fight the dealer and finally get that done...with a salvaged pump....then I find out I'll probably need a new clutch... And recently been told its in need of a fly wheel alternator and starter motor... I could go on I guess mine was made on a Friday afternoon...

How many miles have you clocked James?

One I am driving at the min is on 71k but my previous racked up 95k and only died as a result of me putting no oil in her, I still have it so have all spare pumps etc just in case lol

I,ve had my abarth for nearly a year now. It smill makes me smile when i drive it.
Ive had the usual issues but no more than any of my other cars.
And, they are cheap. Mine was £1200. Bargain.
