I have a 53 Stilo Multiwagon which needs the front side light (drivers side) changing. Have viewed links various but unable to find any CLEAR advice on how to do this. There would appear to be two side light bulbs but which one has gone is difficult to tell and with the size of my hands there is no way I can access (even if I could see them) the side light bulb......Help please
 
Halfords is worth a try. BUT there are two side light bulbs in each headlight and both are not working (drivers side) albeit the rear lights are working which I find strange - surely two would not fail at the same time!!. Question: Is there a fuse which I can change? Handbook is not helpful.

One could have failed a previously and as there's another one in the same headlamp, you may not have noticed it then. Now the other one's failed you did notice it.

Question: Is there a fuse which I can change? Handbook is not helpful.

There are no fuses for the side lights or number plate lights. They're all controlled and powered directly from the car's body computer. If it detects a short in any of the individual wires, it shuts down power to that circuit.

I asways thought that position and number plate bulbs were still covered by a single fuse :confused:
 
Davren, thank you, I can understand that but I just needed to explore (hopefully) the fuse route!! Looks like it is time to explore taking the bumper off although I wish there was an easier method :cry:

Normal diagnostic procedure would be to determine whether the fault is inside or outside the headlamp before removing it.

Check for power at the headlamp connector when the side lights are switched on. For the right headlamp, the side lights get power on pin 4 of the connector. According to the wiring diagram, the wire going to pin 4 should be Dark blue with a green tracer line on it, however the wiring diagram colours are often wrong. There's a diagram of the connector and it's pin numbers below but I don't know whether it's shown as viewed form the front or back of the connector. If there isn't a Dark blue/Green wire, and you can't work out which is pin 4, then pin numbers should be moulded inside the connector and/or in the socket on the headlamp. Alternatively, check for power at each individual pin. Only one of them should be live when only the side lights are switched on.
