Hi FF,

I recently aquired a Stilo, which i very much like, though I i have some questions about it i couldn't find anywhere.
My Stilo is the 3 door facelift Racing version with the 8 valve JTD rated at 88kw. The car has 180000km on the dash. Ever since i got it has been making a strange rattle when upshifting... In all gears, most obvious when changing above 2000-2500 revs. At first i thought beeing the racing version it may have some king of stock blow-off installed ( like in some seat models) but then i am not sure, and i haven't got the time to check it with my local garage.

After some digging i found some posts reffering to wastegate rattling, what do you think? Is this a serious issue? Or might it be something else?

Another question i have is about the cambelt, i know it has been changed at 100000km, and now the current belt would have 80000km, should I go about changing it? Or 100k is a normal interval?

Greetings from Spain,
Dan.

I can hear the rattle clearly when I'm driving, if i sit in the passenger seat ( right side ) i can still hear it, but barely. I tried to localize the sound and it seems to be comming from under the steering wheel.
The belt olny has about 3 years of life, and the first time it was changed was in warranty, i was thinking on changing it in about a month or two.

Loose heat shield will make a tinny sort of rattle whenchanging gear or a loose baffle in the exhaust.

Thanks for the hints. Though it seems to me it has something to do with the boost and the turbo, for example i tried while in fourth engaging the clutch and reving slightly, when i would lift the foot of the gas the same rattle would happen. Again if i would shift below 1900 rpm nothing happens, also if i do a powershift ( changing the gear without completely lifting the gas) nothing happens.
