Hi again,

Another couple of faults that someone may be able to lend some advice on....

Firstly my boot does not open on the keyfob. The keyfob does work as the central locking locks and unlocks - and the key is sending a signal for the boot unlock but nothing. Have checked the fuse which seems fine. It's not jammed and is simply not firing (can't hear any relay or faint "trying" clicks) Where would be my next check?

Secondly - and this is more of a question than a fault. Do stilos have high biting points on the clutch? I'm hoping someone will say yes and that my clutch isn't on it's last legs. I used to drive mazda's and became familiar with a slightly high bite - so I know it varies with models etc. Clutch feels fine but if I rest my foot on the clutch too hard it revs. Thoughts.....

Hi,

Thanks Davren. Tried it and unfortunately after changung to independent boot -NO, it still doesn't work. Also tried to change the drivers lock setting so i can manually open all from drivers side - and that button doesn't work for any of the doors!

Wehere next?

I'm not really all that sure about "open on the keyfob". My Abarth has a boot release button marked on the key, but it's no practical use. When the car is unlocked (by remote) then the boot can be opened anyway - just squeeze the handle.

I've noticed that after my battery is disconnected and reconnected, the boot won't open at all until I've locked and unlocked the car.

I guess the boot release button has one purpose - when the car is locked and alarm set, pressing the boot release allows the boot to be opened without setting off the alarm. But while the lock motor makes a releasing sound when the button is pressed, I've noticed the tailgate still won't lift without squeezing the handle. Squeezing the handle activates the motor again. So therefore, the boot release button doesn't really release the boot and is of no practical benefit. I reckon it's only there because the job-lot of keys had it :)

The clutch bit on my Stilo is normal, definitely not high.

Like others have said, the separate boot button does nothing on my Stilo. I've no idea if that's normal but I don't care as it unlocks on the button for the doors.

Cheers for input chaps.

Unfortunately, mine doesn't unlock with the rest of the central locking - regardless of the mode setting for independenat boot on or off!

The only way I can unlock is using the key and then the squeezy handle works.

Must be a fault somewhere!

I think the boot should open on all models but you need to hold the boot button on the remote pressed for more than 2 seconds.

On MW versions with the split tailgate, holding the button pressed for more than 2 seconds opens the whole tailgate. Pressing the button twice, opens just the top window part.

I've had my Stilo for several months, and my son owned it for two years before me, and neither of us knew that! I've just tried the two second press and it works fine (y)
