Fur coat ....... No knickers.

I was going to contact the resident Fiat brain on here, about a week ago regarding the same thing.

My battery went dead (it wouldn`t start the engine, not enough cranking power) so I bumped it.

I live on a hill, so off I went and pushed it, jumped in, shut door, turned on ignition, let it run, selected 3rd, started it up, nothing as usual.

Let out clutch (a 54 1.4 manual) it started, but no dash lights, rev, speedo, temp, fuel readings etc, just the dreaded airbag & seatbelt signs visible.

So came back to have a look outside with the engine running, switched it off & shone my torch at the dash & all I saw on the dash was the small `checking` unlit part.

I re-started it, still the only thing visible was the airbag, seatbelt warnings, the `checking` part still was on.

I tested the lights, indicators, horn, wipers & all worked fine, but no interior lights, anywhere on the dash, heater, doors, roof.

So I reversed the clown car into my drive way & proceeded to disconnect the battery (as you said but both terminals) left it for about twenty minutes went back outside in the freezing wind, put both terminals & the dash was still dead but the `checking` pi$h had turned Chinese.

So I just went upstairs & had a cry, fell asleep:bang:, woke up next morning to move my re-bodied Mk1 Punto so my girlfriend could get her new Punto (no we never learn) past my pile of Fiat spares & all was well.(y)

Not had any probs since :worship: but had to charge my battery today, as it was cranking a little slowly.

I`m bricking it now as the Mot`s almost due.
