I keep losing pad retaining clips. It only happens on one side (drivers rear). It also makes an irritating noise. I'll go under the car, remove the caliper, see that a couple of pad clips are missing, replace them and put it back together. It will drive fine for a while but then the noise will slowly come back again, starting with a quick squeaking noise then later turns into a clicking.

I'll go back under the car again, unbolt the caliper and remove the pads to find that 3 pad clips are gone having previously fitted 4 in there! I've now run out of spare pad clips and the noise is just a little bit infuriating. What is causing these pad clips to come out?! It only happens on the drivers rear. Also the wheel on that side is slightly buckled, not sure if it's related?

How strange. Normally the clips are a very tight fit into the fixed part of the caliper. Perhaps the ears of the pads are gripping them and pushing them off their mounts? I normall grease the faces of the clips that bear against the ears of the pads.

Thanks for the reply,

I fitted the rear discs, pads and calipers myself, I didn't use any grease on the clips when I fitted them as you say. I'll remove the caliper again tomorrow, I've scavenged about my garage and found 3 clips so will grease them up and fit them, I'll also do the same on the passenger side rear for good measure even though the problem is only on the drivers side. I've not got copper grease but I've got another form of grease that's high temp resistant that'll hopefully work. Oh and the clips are tight on their mounts but there is a bit of movement in and outwards of the disc where the clip can slide in and out towards it, only a couple millimeters if that though.

I'll try grease them up
