Hi all,

well, the garage have well and truly left me in the sh*t. See, they failed the car MOT on Friday, but didnt bother to look at the "buckled" wheel till yesterday and even after spending the time to repair it, still failed it. I am SO angry.

anyway, I need to source a wheel, asap!! Does anyone have a spare CLAW they can sell me?

please if you do ,PM me. Id be hoping to get it here THIS WEEK, or certainly very early next week.

hope someone can help :(

Sorry mate, modette is my mum and so the claws are mine but I need all 4...

Wont pass the MOT with a spacesaver on ..

nope, i know that! anyway, I have the car back now, with a full MOT. the dodgy wheel is now on the back, but with a strong advisory. They kindly broke my handbrake gaiter, so I need to fix that, and the chap who did the headlamp today couldnt have been less grumpy if he tried. Wasnt remotely interested in the new motor I had for it, but was happy to take half the car apart to get to the adjuster, despite me telling him to go in via the wheel arch. Im just home, so having lunch, then im going to check the car over...

im going to have a bash myself! actually, before i took the car in for the MOT, I spent ALL NIGHT faffing, and eventually got the old motor out/in. Now i have the new one, i know what to do-remove the wheel arch liner, remove the headlamp cover and its fairly easy-although i had to remove the battery to make it a bit easier.

I have done some research about this wheel. And although I still need a spare, or get this one repaired, im not so sure its quite as bad as I have been led to believe.

On the MOT failure sheet, it says "Offside front (inside) road wheel bead rim badly distorted" so to me, thats not necessarily a buckle I dont know. As far as I know, they dont have the equipment to check this?? Anyway, on the MOT PASS sheet, as an advisory, it says "Offside rear -they moved it - advise replace Road Wheel with a slightly distorted bead-rim"

im hoping that this may mean a normal repair is possible. I have to add, when driving the car, I felt NOTHING. NO vibration. Apart from the tracking being out, the car has always felt solid, smooth and vibration free at speed. the wheel is now on the back, and still hasnt lost any air. So im feeling a bit more confident that in fact, its ok for now. gives me a bit more time to organise a replacement, i am even going to ring Fiat for a price. Cost of MOT today £307. Thats £55 MOT, £80 caliper, 5 hours labour i think. I wont be using the garage again. Not because of the cost, but because of how they dealt with me and the car.

Modette doesnt have a spare wheel, so the hunt is still on. I am going to visit some wheel repair places though for a second opinion, hopefully Saturday.
