Hi people!I have Fiat Stilo Abarth 2002 Selespeed and as the topic says i`ve got a problem!Firstly this strange electrical noice start from the engine and few days later...Gearbox Failure!I did the simple test and the result was that i have no pressure on the gearbox! The Accumolator (Sphere) was the problem..i`ve bought the sphere and change it...I`ve got gears yeeeaahh, but the stupid electrical noice still present and i just don`t know here it comes from?Today on the way back home i`ve only got 1st gear and can`t change gear...Stoped the car turn it off and start again, then the problem was gone, but the noice still was there!!!Please any ides what could be the reason???:bang:

You've probably checked the selespeed fluid? Not sure about the noise though!
Not being able to change gear is because it limited to 'limp mode'.

Also hydraulic fluids have a life span.

I`ve checked the selespeed fluid....it`s a bit dark though. How can i check the hydraulic???And i`ve noticed something...Last night did a cold start and everything was ok,but when the car warmed the buzzing starts again! And the little dispay on the dashboard shows that i lost 3 points pressure of the engine oil :(

The Selespeed uses Hydraulic fluid, that was what i was referring to, when was the last time you've had to top it up, or how long has the fluid been in there? I only use is 'Tutela CS selespeed'.

With the loss of oil pressure, is that what you are saying?:
- how often do you change the oil, oil filter & are oil level ok?
- is your car with high mileages? if you have a high mileage car then try using HPX (Fiat oil for older/high mileage cars (not saying this would solve the problem but just advise on high mileage fiats).
- might be oil pressure sending unit if levels are ok and oil & oil filter change. the sending unit is located on the block and near the oil filter. Also check the wire that connects to it.

The buzzing noise:
- are you sure it's from the engine bay, where's the location of the buzz?
- also does your Selespeed prime when you open the door (which is a short buzzing noise to build the pressure for the clutch when you open the door)?
- does the buzz tone change as the RPM's increase or when steering?

I'm just trying to help with finding the problems you are having but not saying it will solve the problems!

Hi again. My problems are solved for now...Changed the selespeed oil and the noise just disappeared. The other problem with the engine oil pressure i fixed by following Deckchair5 thread about cleaning the inlet control valve...And now everything is fine, for how long...we`ll see

Glad you got it sorted, just keep it eye on the Selespeed fluid it'll keep you from a lot of problems!

All the Best

To continue the thread...Today i started the car and drove, but for 20sec of driving gearbox failure flashed...Everything is fine...i`ve got gears, the car responses like it should...I`ve noticed that everytime i opend the driver`s door it sounds the signal like when i put it in reverse???Any ideas???

You'd probably need to get it diagnosed as it could various things!

You said you've changed the accumulator and changed the fluid (did you use Tutela?).

Has the fluid levels dropped, if it has you may have a leak, if so it could be a leaking actuator dripping on the gearbox or a pipe/union leak.

If the fluid is ok then it might require bleeding, I think the bleeding screw is on the actuator but there is a process to do it properly.

It seems the problem is connected to the bottom hose from the selespeed fluid tank...

No,but a noise like air pressure comming from there,i`ve changed the hose clip, and the gearbox problem is gone from the dashboard...for now :( and one more thing..yesterday when i refitt everything to gain access to the hose clip...When i`ve started the car i`ve noticed that my (i think in english) coolant fin don`t work anymore!Maybe i screw something up???
