Hi all!

I´m new at the Fiat forum. It seems great to enjoy you :)
I have tried to change the belt on my Stilo Abarth between the AC pump and the alternator. I have borrowed a special tool from a Fiat workshop but don’t understand how to use it  see attached file.

Is there anybody on the forum that has experience of this tool and maybe can explain how to use it? :bang:

Best Regards Jonny Wallin from Sweden.

When you buy an original Fiat belt you get this tool in the box - each time. It's to feed the belt over the wheel without damaging it. Just place the "tool" between your new belt and the wheel and let the belt slide on by rotating. The tool will follow half way around and then fall out. It's a fantastic tool actually, and is a good reason original parts should be bought. (y)

That belt is truly part of the Abarth experience - along with the oil filter.

I feel like I have missed out - I bought a genuine belt and it didn't come with that tool :(

How I coped was that I took out the upper alternator bolt (and loosened the lower bolt), which allowed the alternator to swing forward. I got the new belt on (after cutting through the old belt), and then I used great hand strength to swing the alternator back into place enough to get a Philips screwdriver through the holes. Finally prised it into place and got the bolt back in.

The old belt was a little frayed on the edges but (in hindsight) was probably quite fine. I guess I have a policy of replacing anything that looks less than perfect, because defects you can see are usually advance warning.

I have changed the belt twice, and both times the tool was in the carton box, with blue labels stating "ricambi fiat genuine". Why it wasn't in your box is a mystery. It makes the job super-easy. Slide on, and rotate one wheel - or turn the crankshaft pulley with a large wrench.

Hi Morty, that looks a great tool is it something new ? Can you comfirm that it will fit an alternator belt on a 2.4 Abarth Stilo. Thanks, Mike

Hi!
You can see in my first question that I tried to do this on an Abarth. I bought an original belt at a Fiat workshop and the tool was not included. But I could borrow one and it was embarrassing to ask how to use it

I still don’t understand, on what side of the "wing" the belt has it´s start position

Regards Jonny
