hi all i know this has been covered loads of times but my head is fried looking at threads about what it could be what it might be basically will give my info to you
and hope someone can help me out

got the car two days ago seen the airbag failure flash up on the screen.
now i haven't a clue which airbag it is most posts i have looked at suggested the passenger seat is at fault.

i went to the breakers today took a stilo passenger seat apart and took the mat out of the seat for the airbag plugged it in to see if it cured the problem nope
now that's not saying that the mat i took out was any good?
i even tried sitting on it if that would rectify the fault and low and behold no joy still getting the fault

is there any solution to this problem as it driving me mad and the car is booked for the mot/nct and need to sort this

any help much appreciated

i tried messing with the connections nope no joy

ah right so i have to have it read on a code reader that will tell me which ones at fault or do i need a more in depth diagnostics to find out which airbag is at fault

Dont buy anything!!!
The easiest and most ofton best way to fix it (and cheapest)is to cut out the orange connecters under the seats then solder the wires back together. You may have 2 ( one under driver and passenger seat ) or you may have 4 ( one under each side of the rear seat if rear airbags are fitted.
We have done this on all our stilo's ( had 3 of em ) and a few mates with them ( at least 6 of em)
Worked everytime!!!(y)
Takes about 20 mins to do the whole job. ;) and the silence is fantastic.
All you need is a Soldering iron, Solder and some insulating tape to re-insulate the wires you have just soldered.
Piece of cake.
A lot on here will suggest just cleaning them etc but a waste of time IMO as will just do it again in a few weeks or months. My way fixes it permanently"""(y)

Forgot to say there are 2 more connectors. one in the left hand side of the boot and one in the flap that drops down in the glove box. Same thing applies just cut em out and solder em if it the others dont cure it. Only ever had to do that once on a mates car. It did fix though and also spray some WD40 in the airbag switch in the dashboard that you put the key in.
I'll put money on it being the connectors under the seat though that just want chopping out and soldering(y)

cheers mate going to try this tommorow have a soldering iron here and tape was working in some wiring today at my gt starlet

Ok well i will bring it in tomorrow get it read properly before i do anything else i'm going to have a good look at the connector's tomorrow see if they are all clean or any wire's broken

Bodge!! No way a bodge!
Fixed permanently and proven. But hey your call! Just happy to say it saves a lot of hasle in the long run! But hey what do I know.
Only owned one for 11 years now without a beep for 8 years since done after the warranty was out! Same goes for my dads, my sisters, my best mates, several people at work!!!
Only ones that generally bodge things are the FIAT steallers that dont do the same and keep BODGING things so they can keep themselves in business.

I will put my permantely fixed connectors with completly working Airbags anyday as opposed to some that have just had the connectors pulled apart and cleaned only to fail just likely to happen before a crash so they wont deploy and the likely hood they caused the crash due to the BEEP BEEP BEEP warning causing you to look away from the road and potentially crash in the meantime.
But hey what do I know....!:D(n)

right as much as i have found out its just somthing to do with passenger side this is the icon thats up
i dont think its the ocupancy sensor, ive also tried switching the airbag on and off from the switch on the side and nothing

That symbol is a general airbag failure warning light. The airbag ECU still tests for faults, even if you've switched the airbag(s) off.

You need to get the fault code(s) read so you know which airbag or component is at fault.

You really believe that? Dealers are bound by the technical data and repair procedures supplied to them by the manufacturer.

What you have infact done is changed the homologation of the vehicle. I honestly hope that no one that you have carried this repair out on has an accident and the insurance companies find out.
The only authorised repair is the one supplied to and carried out by certain staff members at authorised dealerships.

Cutting/soldering maybe be allowed on certain cars (PSA for example) but Fiat don't allow it.

Hi I had the same problem. Changed the passengers ocs mat on the seat, but didnt cure the problem, was a bit pissed ....but by good luck I was changing a rear light bulb and noticed a connector on the rear wheel arch wasnt properly closed this solved the problem:)
I think this was the connection for one of the read detinators.
Hope this helps.

Yes.... FES (now Multiecscan) can show airbag faults.

The part in your picture is an airbag control ECU. The part number on it indicates that it's only suitable for a Stilo without any side or head airbags, and without the Occupant Classification Sensor. It's located below the centre console. (I believe it's fitted a bit further forward than as shown in the diagram below).

Correct Davren. It sits on the transmission tunnel approximately a foot forward of where it's indicated in the diagram, and it's a fiddly job getting to it and even more fiddly removing the retaining screws!

ok cheers guys could this be the bane of all my troubles this being faulty as this was in the glove box when i bought the car im going to change it tommorow
