Hi Guys,

Haven't posted for a while as sold my Stilo to my sister. She is now having problems with starting the car (Before you as yes I have looked through many threads!)

My first question is what is this brown connector next to the D4 that isn't connected to anything? Should it be like this?

Symptoms
Car doesnt even try to turn over just makes clicking noise few times then starts
Today car trys to turn over but wont. I have killed the battery trying this. I have put on charge.

Things I have tried
I replaced the crank sensor last night but no joy.

Any ideas would be great. Please see fault codes below. Could this be a immobiliser issue?

Thanks,

Reece

Now the ECU has been reset and I have cleared fault codes I am getting this error: U1702 - CAN network (NCE - NGE)

From the forum I see this points to the D4. I didn't clean the D4 as I have no contact cleaner. It looked dry and ok but i presume that I wouldn't be able to see if it needed cleaning?

Thanks

Reece

That brown connector is for the cruise control on Stilos, only standard on Abarths I believe but cars with ESP came with this extra connector.

I don't have a clue about that fault code, I presume the CAN network isn't getting a good signal from one of the nodes or something. Cleaning the D4 with contact cleaner wouldn't hurt.

Ahhh thank you! that would explain why there is nowhere for it to go!

I think the next step would be to clean the D4. Also is the clicking a relay? Should I swap some relays around? Is there an immobiliser relay if so does anyone know the T number?

Thanks!

Could be one of the relays in the fusebox. I've had problems starting mine due to the horn relay shorting out and the front fog lights relay shorting out. I've had one of the red relays fail on me too, one of them was clicking like mad and glowing red hot lol

First thing to do is find the location of the clicking noise

Im not sure on the clicking noise as was on my own so couldnt turn key while under car. But i have discovered the starter motor is whining! I tried tapping with a hammer but nothing. I was wondering is the voltage not high enough to the starter motor? Could this be a battery issue? I know stilos can have all sorts of problem when the battery is dead. The battery does keep dying but i thought that was just because i kept trying to turn it over. Do you think its the starter motor? Thanks again!

Got home start and called out RAC. Turns out the turning over issue was due to the fact i had flooded engine in cold weather. He also said clicking noise is the starter motor which i will need to get replaced. At least car now starts!

Thanks for your help!
