Good morning guys! Took my Fiat Stilo Abarth to be hooked up to computer and fully serviced. One of the main problems i was having was the constant beeping of the airbag failure problem! When i got my car back last night the error message still pops up on my screen. I am getting so fed up of this constant beeping everytime a passanger sits down. my question is...is there any way to turn off these warnings or turn the volume of the constant beeps that arise every so often.?

Thanks

Lee

Davren, the message is the "air bag failure, turn car off immediately". Took the car to Fiat garage and they told me that they had to replace the whole cushion on the passanger seat - cost about £400 to £500.

Were can i get a replacement OCS Sensor online? and do you have any illustations on how to fit a new one?

Thanks again mate

Yes. They do work just fine. I have had one fitted for 10 months now with no problems.

Also sold on eBay - Make an offer

Not the same as the one I use, it came from Lithuania, but they are produced all over Europe.

Just made a further search and found the one I use for sale at £30 + £7 PP ->

Thank you mate! just annoyed with all these alarms going off in the car!!

are they easy to fit and install?

thanks

Emulators will tell the ECU that there is someone permanently in the passenger seat, so the airbag will fully deploy in the event of a accident whether the seat is occupied or not. If this happens, you would need a new airbag and dashboard.

As I said in post #2 above, the problem is probably the OCS connector needs cleaning. The sensor itself tends to break if you regularly use a baby seat on it.

I have spare one from a seat I striped for its heating element. But it is more likely to be the orange connectors under the seat that need cutting out and the wiring soldered back together. 30 in job but more than likely fix the beeping.

I don't think my Stilo Abarth has ever had an OCS. I think the ones that do have a fabric 'OCS' tag stitched into the seat (saw this on another Abarth with otherwise identical cloth seats, mine doesn't have the tag). I imagine that without the OCS, the ECU might have different programming.

I won't mind if the airbag deploys only at maximum force if it makes the system more reliable - I shall have the passenger sit as far back as possible at all times. The chance of ever replacing the dashboard/airbags is slim, as a car of such low value will be written-off in NZ after a crash that damages more than one headlight...

My 2003 Stilo doesn't have the OCS tag, but does have the OCS. Only way to tell for sure is to check whether you have the grey OCS connector under the seat.
