My 1.9jtd multiwagon runs great with no error codes showing. If I rev it as per the MOT smoke test its like the funnel on a steam train with enough gray/black smoke to blot out the sun. On the road under normal conditions its fine. Can anybody give me a clue whats wrong and save me hours of searching for the fault. Cam belt has been renewed.

Air filter would be my first check, cheap supermarket diesel will make it smoke and less MPG.

my 1.9jtd m/w doesnt like cheap supermarket Diesel, Shell all the way sometimes the v-power stuff, get well more MPG

Same here, i always use Shell diesel! I agree that MPG seems better too and the car just generally runs smoother :)

When i had my power loss issue a while back i went to a local garage and explained the problem. The first thing he asked me was, do i fill up at Asda!

Possibly the EGR valve and/or the throttle body could be caked up with crap. It may need cleaning then you could either blank the EGR off or leave it. I had this on my stilo, shooting tons of black stuff out the exhaust.

Hi. I have made this point before supermarket diesel works out more expensive because you get less MPG, not to mention the smoke and poor acceleration.

Thanks.. Sounds possible so added it to my list of things to try. When the weather warms up of course!!!.
