as the title says really... as a lot of you know my 1.6 is getting a cat and a whole host of other bits thrown at it in time for MOT come Feb 1st.

Cats are all much of a muchness as they all have to be made to a certain spec to conform to regs but Lambdas is one of those things ive never really dealt with being a diesel technician.

as a general rule i dont use anything but NGKs for distributing sparks into my chambers so, in my head, it makes sense for me to be putting the NTK lambdas in. ive found them for £70 and £74 for the pre and post respectively whereas Bosch units ive found for £85 and £78.

would there be any advantage in forking out the extra £20 for the sake of having Bosch units or would the NTKs be equally as good (both NTK and Bosch advertise them as OE equivalent or better)

I don't think there should be much difference, although they don't look the same
(the cover arround sensing element is different).
I got mine (bosch) while it was on promotion - price.
My vote is on bosch, anyway. Original is original.
Good luck.

I've never had to replace a lambda sensor, or a cat. I'd be suspicious. Often, these 'faults' are the symptom of something else...

There's also often mention on the interweb about using half a lemon to clean a lambda sensor. https://www.google.co.nz/search?q=lemon+lambda+sensor&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari

Gotta be worth a try... :p

be suspicious all you like Al ;) my cat is physically goosed, the monolith has disintergrated and the pre lambda traces to gnd occasionally the post lambda although only about 30/35,000mi old gives some wierd traces at times too(probably more to do with the fact that the cat is shot than a sensor fault). i have to replace the cat and the pre lambda and for the sake of the £70 for a post lambda, its a small price to pay for the piece of mind that it will be as good as it can be for MOT, my TB will be getting cleaned along with an oil and filter change... i think its a little bit past the lemon trick unfortunately :(

lambda life is between 50,000 and 100,000 miles shes done 105,000 so im not overly bothered about having to fork out. i 99% sure the damage to the cat has resulted from the bad pre lambda, which obviously messes with the fueling. its suffered a meltdown so there has been either extra fuel going in (my favourite due to lambda fault), oil going in (possibly due to a valve guide seal, but i have no other symptoms of that), or a coolant leak into the cylinders but i have absolutely no signs of that either.

this is the least of my worries anyway i have a MASSIVE list of work i need to do and this is just one of that list :D
