Hello

I bought my 1.6 Active sport 03 stilo in November... bought it with the engine light showing on the dashboard, the seller was kind enough to bring me a mechanic round with the diagnostic tool and to prove to me it was only a misfire... low and behold change plugs and coils and the light went off

now is my problem... last night I was driving home and when I changed up in to 3rd the light came back on??? I know this is very vague but it is just so frustrating

Searched high and low through this forum for a similar problem but nothing hence why I made the new thread any help would be much appreciated..

(I am aware that the 03 stilos are renowned for the excellent reliability of the computer and how it is always right wondering if this could be the problem)

needs to be read really for code but could be a dodgy cam or crank sensor try cleaning the throttle body with carb cleaner and see how you go and does the car run normal with the light on?? paul

Cheers for reply... it seems to be running fine pulling sweet up hills (when i first got it it wouldnt pull up hills with the misfire) so i doubted it would be that... would you beleive it... the light has just gone out :? ill clean the throttle body when i get in from work ... would you recomend one of these for checking the code i know its cheap and cheerful but i wondered if this would do the job?

id recomment and ELM lead and a copy of MES before any handheld code reader, although its only any use if you have a laptop!

if its gone out the fault has gone away it could be a whole host of things that throw your engine light on and without knowing the codes as im sure you can appreciate its a little hard to diagnose!
