hi everyone
ive read lots of posts for help and advice and a common solution/problem seems to be people replacing things without solving the problem and buying needless new bits.
i do know a bit about my car , its a stilo 1.4 2004 16v and been having starting problems recently.im a fairly competent diy mechanic and think ive traced the fault to the throttle body but not completely sure wether its the throttle body thats faulty or its getting duff info from ? i have taken it off and apart cleaned it put it back on done a relearn but when i turn the ignition on it doesnt open fully and then close back up just opens a bit then closes up. im lead to believe it should go through a full cycle.i can get it to start but it takes some doing and stalls but it runs fine when im accelerating , but have to dance between pedals in traffic jams etc
so my question is
its got 6 electrical connections on the connector which i guess ones live (probably fed from ecu) ones neutral i assume the other 4 are outputs or inputs to or from either the spark plugs or injectors either direct or via the ecu etc i assumed that cos theres 4 connections in the tb inner casing
my guess is as the throttle body disc opens up and the cogs inside the tb turn the message goes out to the spark plugs or injectors to speed up their outputs and vice versa as it closes.
any info on the workings or tests i could do would be much appreciated getting an elm reader for xmas so think i ll be wiser soon thanks

at the moment I am experiencing problem with throttle body as well. sometimes revs stuck on 2k, and sometimes when I press the throttle the car does not rev.. I've connected with obd and read codes coming from throttle body.

Regarding cleaning.. have you tried cleaning the potentiometer as well?

Also, when you bring the obd, connect it with the computer and check (with fiat ecu scan) what readings does it give you when you press the throttle, check whether the reading from the pedal is good as well because you have another sensor underneath it.
