hi guys ive a poorly abarth

while driving i felt like i ran over something, pulled over turned the engine off and it fires up for a second then cuts out.then it wont start until i leave it a while then same again cuts out???

had rac do a diagnostic and it showed 2 cam sensor faults
ive got a garage putting a new cam sensor in today and hoping its sorted but if it isnt any ideas guys
thanks jay

See if it fixes it first I say, you could get a lot of confusing advice based on speculation.

just want any help incase its still broken...xmas week n all.grrrr

also wondered if anyone else had probs like this????the electrics on these cars are a nightmare ,this is my 2nd abarth stilo and i love the cars but hate the electrics lol
has anyone had a cam sensor changed and if so did it need a cambelt doing at same time??

ive had camshaft sensor changed and it starts for about 5 secs then cuts out.
the other sensor is a cambelt change(cambelt sensor) grrrr;...at least it runs so only an electrical prob

im not sure the exact code as they were on a rac diagnostic....it just read 2 cambelt sensor errors, and a fan sensor error

its going on the fiat diag tomorrow so it looks like i havnt got away lucky grrrrrrrrrr

anyone no the going rate for a cambelt change?

or

anyone had similar probs and said bye bye to their stilo abarth
cheers guys jay

hi guys, got the car back ,still buggered

please help

after changing 1 og the cam sensors the car starts for about 3 secs then cuts out.....thats when it does start

the garage said maybe ecu knackered

the garage said when they put it on the diagnostic

forgive my memory but you wil get the jist of it

it said my fueling should be injecting something like every 0.02 sec but was actually 0.042 secs.....sorry if i got the exact fig wrong..it was told to me a couple of weeks back

i hope you no wat i mean

so the good points were the 2 cam sensors..cambelt/cam shaft sensors...working fine

anyone offer any help?

i will connect my laptop up to the car tomorrow and see if it shows codes

thanks jay

Hmmm. Sounds very much like my sisters 1.9 diesel. Hers started cutting out like that and garage thought it was cam position sensor etc. Eventually had to take it to FIAT steelers which they put another ecu from one of the lads cars to see if they could get it to run and it did because the diagnostics were saying cam position sensors etc. Anyway that cost us £200 and they wanted another £650 to put another ecu on. We told em to stick it and tow'd the car home.
We sent the ecu off to the ecudoctor and he mended it for 150. Comes back all virginiesed so just a case of plug and play.Turned out the Seal had blown on it and had water damage.
Her husband had they day before it went down filled up the washer bottle and accidently splashed over the ecu. :bang:
Daft place for it to be mounted in my opinion.(n)

Yep Just google "the ecudoctor". He should come up or click this.

Took about 4 days to send fix and get back! Rings you and tells your if it is broke. Not sure if it costs if it isn't broke? Think it does but only something like £30 as I remember but that is knocked off of the repair price if it has had it!
Worked for us anyway.(y)
