hi guys need some info quickly if possible

my rear axle started to clonk again not only over bumps but on dead flat smooth roads as well, so i checked and this time it wasnt the bush, its the bolts to the chassis.
one bolt is missing and the other was loose, when i tightened it it just stripped the thread in the chassis - ive no idea where the other went it was there a couple of months back.
i think this damage was done when i purchased the car back in 2010 as it failed mot on the bolts then they put the wrong bolts in then and must have damaged the threads.
anyways, i need to know the thread pitch and size bolt i should replace them with, its a fine thread so im guessing about a m16 thread. could someone also tell me the size of the bolts, i will take it 1-2mm larger but need to get the tap and bolts from screwfix in the morning. im going to replace all 8 to be safe now.
thanks guys
roy

sorry to reply to my own thread, i think i may just helicoil the bolt holes, can anyone tell me the correct sizes i will need bolt and helicoil sizes.
i think they will be the best way for the time being until i can remove the axle in the summer months and time-sert the lot.
cheers

ok i thought i would update for future refences.
I had trouble finding out the correct sizes, the bolts are about 9 1/2mm so i decided to drill them out and fit m10 bolts.
i bought an helicoil kit - m10 was the size i opted for bolts are very similar sized and there would be less drilling.
If you need to change the bolts and drill them out be carefull as the drill will snatch - i found this out the painfull way lol.
the job can again be done in situ so you dont need to get the axle of, i used a 8mm socket on the tap as a normal tap wrench wont have enough clearence. you only need to get the car in the air and not even remove the wheel.
car is once again silent yippeee.

Hi have the same thing with a Multiwagon One bolt only though. I Have been out of the motor trade for 20 years now and remember using timecerts on 911 crankshaft cases do you no were I can buy them?? The axle should drop to get the tools in unless your doing the bushes as well. GOOD LUCK!!

ive not been able to source timeserts here in the uk yet, i can order them and get them imported but dont feel the need to pay over the odds for already expensive piece of equipement. i have a friend state side and if i cannot find them eventually i will get him to send them over for me.
with timeserts i will drop the whole axle assemble as you need the room but on helicoils that i currently have used you can do the job in situ.
my bushes are brand new (well about 12k on them) and i have no plans to drop the axle yet. the bushes are a doodle with the correct tools!!
