Tuning 1.6 Turbo?

Tuning 1.6 Turbo?

IC and Dump Valve... with a charger... first ive heard... id have thought using an IC would create far too much lag for a charger setup!?

The dump valve stuff is ****** -- superchargers don't need -- and rarely use -- a dump valve (and a supercharger designed for a 1.4 used on a 1.6 certainly wouldn't). The intercooler, you want. The Bini Cooper S used a intercooler, as do the Jags.

You won't get a lot from using the Eaton 45 (even the Works Cooper S with a bigger charger puts out less than 200bhp), and you'll still need an aftermarket ECU...............

The Rotrex is nice, but costs more than a Coupe Turbo, and that's before fitting.

Is it? this all what i have been told by a chap i know who ran it on a marea 20v and now on a t5 volvo but they may be due to being compound charged build thread below

Just like to add to this :)

a 1.6 turbo will have better low down torque than any 20v turbo
watch the clip
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Marea 300BHP
Brava 16v 220BHP

spoke to the guy on the Clube do Marea website and he is going to send me a parts list and costs :)

im alway right LOL:devil:

Compound charged -- so supercharger and turbo. Turbo needs a BOV to prevent impeller stalling (and consequent shock loads) during gearchange, and a wastegate to regulate boost. As the supercharger is mechanically driven, exhaust gases play no part (hence no BOV) and boost is regulated by correct sizing.

I seriously doubt that a 1.6 turbo would develop more torque than a 20v turbo. It might seem so due to the gearing, but......... If it were true, it would point to the turbo being too small, resulting in lots of low down torque (and likely gearbox damage and torque steer) rather than in decent mid range and top end.

As said, 20v Couple tub drivechain is going to be the cheapest, and most reliable option.

i have also torbocharged a stilo/palio motor and fitted it to a x19,the nice part is that the bottom end is uno turbo/pacer at 1 bar boost we made 270hp on the wheels and it is just spinning on the rollers, sure there are a few trick bits but the good part is these motors make hp easily that 16v head works wonders especially when gas flowed,my best time on the1/4mile on 1 bar with street tyres is 13sec dead and best exit speed is 186kmh,will post pics later

Stop fart assing around, you bought a 1.6 Stilo, be happy with what you got. They NOT made for the power that you talking about. If you what bigger, better and faster look at those that are design to be bigger, better and faster.

By the way, nobody has touched on the subject of stopping all this power that you are talking about. Few realize, until that 1 second before hitting the wall, that any upgrade on engine power should go hand in hand with a suitable upgrade on the brakes.

So keep the 1.6 as is, they good cars. (well sort of)
