hey guys, you probably already know of the problem with my 1.6. Random cut-outs while driving, flatspots and all that. I had a "Throttle signal implausible" error code a while back and the electrical garage i took it too recorded sharp acceleration and spikes on the throttle body when plugged into a live data device. They also pointed at the throttle body being the issue.

It had already been cleaned to no avail so i decided to get it replaced. No luck! Car cut out and refused to start while sat at traffic lights.

Now i've had enough! I've loved the car and my time with it but since Fiat are unable to help me i think it's time to move on! I just can't spend the money on it anymore :(

cant say i blame you i had the same with my 1.8 and i will never have another fiat ever even if some one else was paying for it

So sorry to hear this...
Maybe to give it another try ? As Rich suggested throttle relearn would be a good try.

And also check earthing on ECU.
On my 1.6 I had bad earth connection, which is (I beleive) now solved with applying extra wire from battery to ECU housing. Without this wire the car was acting really strange, throwing P1220 and P1050, stalling almost every stop at traffic lights.
(All of this "tutorials" I have found here on forum, for which I'm thankfull).

yes as i have never had a car as bad as that also my daughter had a fiat nothing but trouble and went back to a corsa never had trouble since

You must have been lucky, then.... ;)

Had a Cavalier that did nothing but suffer from electrical faults; and a friend whose brand-new Corsa was permanently being seen to by the dealership.... Last Vauxhall I remember that was reliable was my dad's Viva...!

ade02 .... I think we've got your message now. ;)

>130 000 kms in Eastern Europe, 1xABS, 1xAir Bag failures (Contact cleaner solved them), 1x rear bushings, 1x wishbones (which I got refurbished), 1x drop links. I think that's normal. I guess it matters how you take care of it, or better then - how the guy before you took care of it, and also, where to use the contact cleaner :)

lol, well i have had fiats for the last 10 years and so has my sister and parents, and to be fair only ever had 2 with problems, yet i have had 3 fords over the last 10 years and had nothing but trouble with them, yes my stilo does weird things sometimes especially in the cold, but so does most cars with the amount of elctrikery in them now there is bound to be issues, i also have a citroen picasso, and never had a issue but the citroen picasso i had before the one i have now had nothing but trouble with it

With Fiat, I can easily say I've had the best of both worlds. My previous fiat did 90,000miles without an error, misfire or cutout EVER in the time I had it, whereas the current one has caused me nothing but problems.

You can't generalise and say all Fiat's are bad because of your one dud. Yes, this one here has caused me all sorts of problems in the past 9 months, but I'll still never own anything other than a Fiat. (y)

This is quite interesting reading about how people feel about fiats, I've had 6 in 15 years of driving and NEVER had one break down or need major work (ie some have needed brakes and bulbs etc) but they've never left me stranded on a road anywhere. Now this could be luck? Or as an ex mechanic maybe I just look after them well? I often think people these days expect too much from their cars but they do need looking after.

I've come under a lot of stick for choosing fiats Over the years - especially when I was younger as a mechanic yet the amount of other cars our MOT tester were failing on rust and other issues just reinforced my love for them as I've never owned a rusty one either? One of the biggest culprits for rusty sills and suspension turrets were the MK2 fiesta and escorts..... The cars everyone else told me to buy!:D my last car was a KA and although it was fun to drive, it's build quality was dire, it was 6 years old when I sold it for my stilo and rust ahad taken hold around the petrol cap and on the tailgate. It just reminded me that nothing had changed yet everyone tells me ford are great.

I'm sticking with my fiats :) there not the greatest cars in the world in some areas but they've served me so well throughout my 15 year driving career and I'll be getting another one next (y)

im beginning to thing the OP was trollin'

+1 with gadge, almost... my cinq once threw a Crank sensor... but £20 later and i was sorted! and i may have had another cinq with rust issues... but i still wont buy anything but a fiat now i have my stilo(y)

No I think if he was a troll he'd be a bit harsher lol ........ I can't even own up to changing a sensor? ..... I just though about something though? I do recall having to change a rear wheel cylinder on my 89 panda 14 years ago cos it seized , I think it cost about £6.50?? Damm flats! I'll never have one again!!! :D
