hi all was advised by one of the AA guys to replace starter motor
on my stilo jtd 115, after buying new battery, poor turnover on cold mornings, anyone know the best way to do this IE from the top or underneath, does not look that simple or am i getting to old for this
lark, before i end up taking it to the garage, some one of you guys
must have done it. and by the way he checked lead resistance
and it was ok. thanks

Starter motor comes out from underneath the car. One of the three bolts that hold it to the gearbox bell housing is a little tricky to get to, and you may need to take the dipstick tube off. Be careful not to damage the crankshaft sensor which is immediately above the starter motor.

Disconnect the battery first, because the main +ve cable will be hanging once it's been disconnected from the starter motor.

One of the bolts is a sod to get on even when the cars on a ramp so youre probably best off taking to a garage i reckon.

Or you could take a chance that its had one before and the tech couldnt be arsed with struggling any more, hence no bolt. ;)
