Quick question... sudden cough from the Stilo, now cangarooing sounding like a fisherman's boat. Low power...

So, humping home, connect FES to show coil 4/D failure.

Is this left or right looking down the engine from the front? Left=timing belt. Right=battery side.

Changed coil. No cure...
???
Then connected FES again, to be told coil 1 was defective, and timing faults on all cylinders.
Swapped new coil from 4 to 1, an reinserted the "faulty" 4. And... perfetto!

Vrooooom!

Now, since a coil at FIAT cost 140 GBP (one) it will most likely be some UK shopping again. (y)

Pulling up my old thread again.

I ordered a set of 4 coils from shop4parts, which were delivered just a few days after. (y) I planned changing them all when I was installing my engineheater, but I haven't had time (for none) and today a new coil broke down - in a snowy storm. Not very strange that another coil failed, as they have all ignited identical times...

Strangely FES stated a injection fault at cylinder 3. So I changed coil 3, but now injection fault showed up at coil 2. Anyway, changed all 3 still Sagem coils to a complete set of 4 Champions. Car started perfectly right away.

Usually I don't change if I don't need, but the moral here is: If one coil breaks down, change them all four. And... the engine management don't necessarily understand the disease. What if I changed all injectors, and still got the fault? So, if you diagnose an injection fault - test with a coil change first. The symptoms were identical to the first coil failure, so why should it be the injector?
