Hi.
It is possible to get ASR to my car if it is not built in right now?
It's question of ECU or I need something else as well?
For sure I need a button beside the gearbox but what else. :)
The tempomat was also not a feature in my car but I made it so the car was able to do. Maybe this is the situation with the ASR as well so it is there just not in use.

Thanks ina advance.

it is a 5.7. My car was built in 2003.
by the way thanks for the info about the ECU. meanwhile I was able to get one localy.
anyway if somebody need thiskind of stuff I will give him your email if you don't mind.

afaik the 5.7 ABS unit has ASR as a standard feature while the later 8.0 version came without ASR.
When you don't have the button near the gear lever you might try to wire the ecu with the asr switch - it's worth a try just like the cruise control stick...
yes you may pass my email when someone needs a replacement ecu for his 1.6 Stilo.

So what do you think how big chance I have to find a connector under the gearbox cover? :)
It is not a big challange to buy a switch for the ASR. BUt if there is no cable for it.
I have no idea witch cables are comming from the ECU for ASR and of course from witch ECU.

can you not see the cable and connector by pulling the large footwell side cover off it is only a push fit with plastic plug type holders..
Going to check mine see if I can see the wire's that go to the city button, if I have the wires going to connector for ASR and City Mode in the connector will find a switch and give it a try using multiscan..
I know when I added the cruise control all I had to do was add the stalk as the wiring and connector were already there in the steering wheel cover did a proxy alignment and works as a factory fitted item..so always worth a look may be wired up waiting for the switch to be added

check if fuse F49 is ok, this is the power supply for the ASR switch.
Check if the ABS has wires connected to pin 27 (ASR disable pin) and 18 (ASR led indicator).

So gantlemans.
According the connection under my buttons I think I need to by a button for ASR and thats it. It is to much wire for a single City button. :)
What is you opinion?

yes, it seems your wiring is available - i just checked the cable colours:

blue with green striping is +12v power from ignition to ASR switch
Light blue with blue striping is 12v power output from switch to ABS unit
White with grey striping is negative wire from led indicator switched by ABS unit.

check if these colours are present in your wiring loom.

be interesting how you get on with it once you have the switch sorted Hurricain...I have just checked mine and little confused with it as I have the wiring in place ready for a switch to be fitted i,e blue/darkblue..blue/green..white/gray.. yet when I scan with multiscan it tells me I have version ABS 8, so not sure if it be worthwhile if that version of ABS unit does not support ASR and certainly not into changing the ABS unit to a 5.7 unit,,,could be I just had a loom fitted that had most option wires fitted as it had the cruise control wired ready for the stalk to be added,

If you change the ABS unit back to 5.7 mybe you have to reteach the ECU because there is a change in your system. This can be done I think with multiscan because it is able to clear everything fromm ECU so it can relearn everythin. I read this in multiscan help. OF course it was never done by me so this is only theoriticaly. And there is an other question what have may answers: Why Fiat changed to a more stupid ABS unit as an improvement? :)

Hi.

Today I changed the switch itself but.....
After I'v done it and nothing happened when I pressed the button I connected to the ecu. There is 5 or 6 type of ABS unit in the list of FiatEcuscan.
The frst is the classic 5.7 the second is 5.7 ASR. It seems I have standard 5.7 and this unit can't handle ASR. (n)
So what to do?
Change the ABS ECU? :)

In the FiatEcuscan proxy alligment is able to change the ABS type to ASR.
I did it but it won't work because the hardware itself is not able to handle the ASR. I just thinking to change the complete system.
How difficult it can be?

OK.
So I checked a few things. It seems the ABS ECU is also changeable.
The ABS ECU,s also not so expensive stuffs in ebay.
What is a really big question? If I buy a new ECU and I remove it from the solenoid block for sure the brake fluid will come out or it is changeable without remove the fluid. The other question is if I change the ECU than is there any difference between the solenoid blocks of an normal ABS and an ABS/ASR module? I think not but maybe.
