Hi all,

I've recently had a slight ringing when driving so a mechanic had a look for me and deduced my brake calliper (rear passenger) had siezed.
After some pulling, hammering and pushing, it was temporarily sorted.
But obviously now, I need a calliper refurb kit and can't seem to find one for the stilo. Any ideas?
Trying not to have to fork out for whole new calliper set :s

Also, looking at new pads and disks and wondered if anyone could suggest some good ones that aren't mega expensive?

It's been suggested to me that brake pads and disks from other cars can fit and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is true?

Thanks,
Ali

Rather than waste time on refurbing the caliper, buy one ready done! Autoparts warehouse on ebay supply them at reasonable prices. For new discs try buypartsby (sutton autofactors) or carparts4less - both stock oe quality and offer very quick delivery.
A number of models take the same discs and pads so they are readily available.
Do a search on this forum for brake calipers as there is a right and wrong way to adjust the piston on some of these.

Hi. Don’t buy Mintex pads they will start to squeal after a while, I change my pads three times a year (lots of mileage) and found Allied Nippon are great pads and very cheap.

I... It seems sized calipers are a common thing on stilos as one of mine was the same

I think calipers are a weak spot on all cars, probably because they move only very slightly over a period of months so dirt and water takes its toll very easily.

If you can afford it then I really do recommend changing the calipers rather than just changing the seals, it's usually better economy in the long run as properly refurbished calipers will last a long time - it's also usually much easier to fit new calipers than to change the seals (although I've never changed seals on a Stilo).
