My 1.2 52plate stilo is miss fireing on cylinders 2 and 4 i have changed the plugs the plug coils seem to be working i have been told that the problem lies with the ignition modul can anybody advise me on this problem and if it is the ignition module is it a expensive fix

Thanks for getting back/ I called out the RAC out 2day as my engine light came on and the car was missing and underpowered,he plugged in his laptop and found that cyilinders 2 and 4 were missfireing and he seems to think that because more than 1 cylinder was missing that the problem was more seroues and was most likely to be the ignition module.

Hi it was the RAC that tested it at roadside and he said because cylinders 2and 4 were miss firing it was most likely to be the ignitoin module

if i did swap them over would i have to get sumone to test them with a computer or would i be able to tell myself

Ideally you'd need to use computer, however, if its the same, disconnect the two on the cylinders that have been diagnosed (with engine off when you disconnect them). Then try again the the two disconnect, if its the same then its likely to be the coil drivers in the ECU possibly, if it doesn't start at all, then its because the good coil packs have now been disconnected, and they're at fault, as fail on not just the same cylinder - if you see what I mean?

I hope that makes sense

I would suspect the coils rather than anything else. If you can run to two new coils, swap the suspect ones with the new ones and if that fixes it, its fixed !.
MEP's guide (above) should help if you want to avoid any unnecessary expenses upfront.
If you later find you really didnt need the coils then you could probably easily off-load them on here or ebay. Carparts4less, eurocarparts,or gsf are best for prices on these. Fiat ones are something over £50 each.
I had two coils go on one day on my 1.2. completely without warning, the car was driveable but only just. I later had a third fail, one dark November night and the fourth on the way to trade in the car. The more experienced users say replace all four. Once you've established the real cause of your problem , you may think that a sensible action !
