I've just bought a (brand new) replacement engine ECU for my 2002 Stilo 1.6.

Only problem is, because I didn't check thoroughly enough when ordering the new ECU (I ordered it online), it seems the original ECU is the IAW5NF.T1 (part no 55181521), whereas the new ECU is the IAW5NF.T9 (part no 51759028).

Does anyone know whether these two ECUs are interchangeable, or is it only possible/advisable to install a .T1 like the one that's currently in the car?

55181521 is pre 2003

51759028 is post 2003

There were significant changes to the Stilo in 2003 that required more ECU inputs/outputs.

So my guess would be no, they are deffinately not compatible.

the T1 and T9 are interchangable - never heard about that input-output story....
I have sold many T9 ecu's instead of T1 and never had any problems with that.
the only big change was when Fiat decided to put an Opel engine in their Stilo's around 2005 - at that moment they used another ecu (5SF ??)

OK, thanks, I suppose there's no risk in using the .T9 I've already purchased to replace my .T1, then?

But just to be on the safe side, what's supposed to be the difference between the .T1 and the. T9?

i'm trying to find out the differences but could not find any - at first i thought the T9 was just a later type but there are also T1 ecu's from 2007 so i'm still searching.....
No problem in fitting your IAW5NFT9 - it will run fine instead of your T1....
