i have fitted a multifunction steering wheel and I'm not sure if its a coincidence but since then everything is working ok but the millage is flashing what would cause this

by adding the steeringwheel you have added another 'node' to the canbus system.

the system see's the new node and knows its not registered to the car so flashes the milage to aware the driver .

you can fix this by doing a 'proxy alignment' procedure on FiatEcuScan software but it needs to be a registered version.

iv tried aligning it with a Bosch its and the display is still flashing so could anything else be wrong

clock is spot on, you have 2 choices, FIAT dealer to do a proxy alignment or download and pay for multiecuscan formally fiatecuscan from, http://www.multiecuscan.net/Default.aspx and pay to register it then buy a ELM 327 cable , I did it myself and cured my flashing mileage with a proxy alignment after I had to change a failed cluster. . Alternatively dependant on where you live there could be a forum member with a registered copy who may be able to help.

you will need the registered FES/MES for the Proxy alignment, the original Examiner nor the Bosch tool can add nodes.
