had a bad day on my way shopping and timming belt snapped the car used to be my sons and he gave me it i had changed the filters ect and phoned him regarding the belt he said it was done at 60000 mls and the car only has 75000 on so i thought that was the least of my problems as ive only had the car 6wks i was sorting out the usual electrical faults i need some help on the way forward ie repair or 2nd hand engine the car is an 02 1.6 16valve thanks

cheapest way tbh. buy a new head from a scrappie. get it skimmed and wack it on.

other way. cheaper depending on scrappy prices... take the head off.
take the valves out and count the bent ones. then buy them on ebay for £8 each. grind them back in and then job done.

if you get another head, i recommend one of a MK1 punto sporting 85. it has hotter panda 100hp cams as standard and double valve springs.. so would serve you better :).

that head wont fit a 1.6. also cams are in the carrier not the head on them

op how much time has passed since the belt was done and did it include tensioner and water pump?

also was it a dayco belt fitted by a vat registered garage? if so and not much time has passed repairs could be covered by dayco's warranty
