Well I'm replacing my door cards soon and so I thought I may as well upgrade my speakers :) Tbh they've been in real need of replacing since December when my car completely died and conveniently my drivers side window was stuck down, and also just for good measure the infamous "Hurricane Bawbag" reeked havoc during this time :bang:

So door speakers are ****ed, would appreciate some feedback from people who may have upgraded theres and what's the best I could get, money won't be much of an issue, though I know nothing about ICE lol

my door speakers are on my "to do" list to matey :D i got a set of vibe slick 6 components ready and waiting to go in which will compliment the vibe slicks in the rear and 8" vibe sub in the boot. i chose vibe because i've known about them for years and they seem quite well built, and well priced compared to some other speakers...... i also think there british too? to the serious audio ICE junkie there probably no good, but for us "muggles" i find them very good :)

My A pillar Builds are for a complex active 3 way DLS Speaker install. Perhaps not a wise move for a first outing to the world of ICE.
As for speakers. Do you have a Ball park figure. More important is the installation.

You will need a set of components so you will upgrade the tweeters in the sail panels (or mirror backs). Something like this.

Then you need a solid mount for the mid bass. These are mine.

If you want something similar let me know and i can organise something. Steel baffles are not essential but prefered.

Then you want some sound deadening.

A lot of the Hertz energy range work well off the Head Unit power on a Budget. (what head unit are you using)
But if you are going to use an amp its a different story. An amp would be a very good way forward as most of the decent speakers require much more power than a head unit can provide.

Thanks for the reply Stu. I have a Kenwood KDC 334, came with the car when I bought it. Reading the specs it says it has an output of 45W for four speakers, is this any good? It has a setting on the HU that allows you to mix the power between all four speakers, I set it so it's 100% coming from the fronts :) I'm not bothered about the rear speakers as I've removed the rear seats lol unless this is a detriment to the sound quality??

If I get my car running for August then I can say a budget of 200-£400 will be possible.

So components, tweeters, subs?? and an amp maybe?

Don't know if I'm looking at anything decent but I'm quite surprised with the pricing of some of these packages. Kenwood double sub box with two 10" subs and a 1200W amp for £140, check it out please and let me know if this is a decent level product and not some entry level ****e lol

EDIT: Was £230 but they've knocked 90 quid off the price! I'm feeling inclined to get it while it's at that price! Just want to know if it's any good? :/

Avoid Caraudiocenter. They are rubbish.
The first thing i would do is upgrade the speakers and get an amp for them. Then think about a sub. But when you do. 1 good sub will be better than 2 entry level ones and a cheap amp.

What sort of sound are you after. As loud as possible, Loud and nice or as nice as possible.

See what I mean, not got a clue :/

Being musicaly minded I should know what I'm after  I don't tend to have the level that high, though I don't like having much trebble in the EQ with more bass than mid. At lower volume levels I'd still like to be able to feel a good kick from the bass levels. Bascily after a nice crisp mid with a sweet low end bass kick, through low to mid/high volume levels (y)

EDIT: I'd be interested in the spare wheel well sub enclosure you've got there, as I've done away with my spare wheel - need to fill the space with something ;)

Im not trying to sound like a salesman but the sub does sound like what you are after. It just needs a beauty board to put on top and a grill then you have a working boot and sub. Drop me a PM if your interested.

It sounds like you want something SQ based so i can put together a list of some suitable bits for you.
