Hi everyone,

Seems like Screen washer pump is not working and I need some help on replacing it.When I try to operate the washer, only the wipers work and no screen washer is sprayed on to the screen (Both Front and Rear Screens). There is no sound of pump working and the fuses are all good.It was working till last weekend so I believe its the pump that need replacing as resovoir is filled up to the brim.

I had a look yesterday and it seems like the resovoir bottle is only held by 2 nuts and bolts one on engine cross member and the other on the inner front offside wing panel. Can someone please confirm these are the only nuts I have to undo to wiggle out the bottle (and the connector of course :)) or is there anymore? Furthermore if I manage to syphon-out the washer liquid, is there way that I can remove pump, working blind by just pulling it upwards or outwards from the bottle? your answers will be highly appreciated.

Yeah that's exactly how to remove the washer battle...though you don't actually have to remove it to replace the pump :)

Take the arch liner off, unplug the wiring connector for the motor and the two water hoses attached to the pump and the pump should lift up and out from it's housing on the washer bottle. Really easy to do buddy ;)

Even though it costs not a lot to replace the motor, you should check the contacts on the wiring plug for the pump and on the pump itself are actually clean and not dirty of corroded, as it's location is low down it can get water damaged.

Good luck, hope this helps mate :)

Thanks alot for the advice Matey...(y) I shall give another go tomorrow morning, with a bit more determination and let you know of the outcome. Thanks again.

Thought I'd bring this thread up again as I have a similar problem that I forgot about :/

My washer motor stopped working some time ago and recently bought a new motor for it (again) plugged it in and it didn't work :( I'm not sure if there's any relay/ fuse for the motor - I'd hope so as that's my last option I guess? Or can blocked hoses cause the motor to just not work at all, can't hear the motor what so ever

Do the front wipers work?

F43 in the cabin fuse box closes the circuit for the front wipers and wiper motor. The wiper motor just goes into reverse when you need to spray the back window. :)

Check F43, if it's not blown check for loose contact. My pump stopped working last winter but I just took the wire going to it, did a little jiggle and it's been fine ever since. :p

It's obvious you don't have such an easy fix as you have already replaced the pump, but I would go for the fuse then the contact cleaner. Then a multimeter to see if you are live on the wire itself.

Blocked hoses are out of the question. You would still hear the pump. I haven't heard anyone's hoses block.

Cheers.

Thanks, I've checked the F43 fuse and that's fine. Yep both front wiper and rear wipers work; well the rear did till I removed the wiper/ motor and blanked the hole :) Pump still worked though.

So I can rule out faulty pump and the fuse, next to check is reliable electrical feed to the pump? Need to get hold of a multimeter then

I've tried burshing clean the contacts on the pump and giving the pump a shake as well but that didn't help either.

A multimeter would be great to see if you get live feed. It could be a ground issue on the cable itself. It's highly unlikely that the cable is broken. It could also be a poor contact in the connector itself. Nevertheless, if your front wipers are working this is very good news as the circuit is fine, just need to see why the little bastard wire doesn't want to play. :)

There is a guide on how to check for earth problems by measuring resistance, please let me know if you need help finding it.

Guys, what if there is no F43 fuse or fuse holder? As in where the F43 is supposed to be, there are just two empty holes? I wouldn't even have noticed, but my washer pump has gone silent and I started to investigate...came to this and was stumped.
