Technical Virgin ECU

Technical Virgin ECU

Just had a thought. What if I buy the old cars ignition key at the same time, would that sort it out?

No, that wouldn't work - you would need the bodycomputer, ecu, keys, all locks from a donor car with the same configuration as your own car.
Virginising your ecu would be much simpler - if it's a IAW5NFTx for a 1.6 Stilo i can do that for you, PM for further details please...

Sorry im confused...why wont a Used ECU work??

the Stilo ecu is matched with the bodycomputer - the bodycomputer will not accept an ecu from another Stilo.
I reprogram the used 5NF ecu's to accept the immobilizer data from your body computer (virginizing).
Fitting a virginised ecu is just plug & play, it's a 2 minutes job.

in the hope that no one will do what yellow stilo is doing and figure out how to do it... Its not complicated Its self preservation! The idea behind it is that You have to take it to a dealer to get everything reprogrammed costing you mega money. id sooner keep it out of dealers If i could!

hi can u tell me how virginize a engine ecu for fiat stilo thanks

i bought expensive equipment to virginise these ecu's - you will have to revirginise quite a lot of them to recover your costs....
Just for one ecu it's much cheaper to have it done by someone with the proper tools...

I have a question perhaps you could answer yellowstilo - I have a 1.2 Stilo but have bought a 1.4 engine to replace it as it's soon to give up on me. They are pretty much the same engine, I have the 1.4 ecu, could I virginise it and fit it and it will work? Will it still have the 1.4 map? I just don't want to have to spend 2-300 quid on a remap.

Mark

virginising will not alter the 1.4 ecu map but i'm not sure your plan will work - the communication with the bodycomputer might fail when the immo, mileage data etc. is written on other locations inside the eeprom....
A remap won't help you either as this only changes the flash data with the maps.

I would have though new ones were supplied virgin!!! Oh why do car manufacturer's make everything so complicated.

To prevent theft of your motor car.
Without the key, it will not start.
If they could pop it onto a lorry and fit any used ECU later, the theft prevention would be minimal.

It is the price we pay for knowing it will still be there where we left it.

So basically the engine won't start with any of the two ecus?? :(

Will the 1.4 engine not run of the 1.2 ecu at all?

EDIT: Sorry I meant remapping the 1.2 ecu to suit the 1.4 engine not remapping the 1.4 ecu. Would the 1.2 ecu run the 1.4 engine?

Is it possible to clone an ecu? I have a spare with a manual map, mine has the MTA box so I could do with a clone to use as a base for remapping and the original as a back if I need to return the car to standard.

There is software to extract ecu map files which you could store on a pc, but if you were to want to put it on another ecu you'd need to get the same ecu and it would also have to be the same firmware version as the original.

I never tried this - i would say give it a go but i'm not very confident this will work without any problems.....
