Hi all,

Slightly odd question to be honest. My father has replaced the engine in his Stilo and in the replacement the garage have found that the battery fuse box is quite heavily corroded.

Having looked around he is being offered battery fuse boxes but several breakers are saying that the fuse box and ECU are paired and as such have to be replaced together?!

Anyone got any thoughts on this? If it is simply the CAN alignment required then we can do this with the FiatECU Scan software.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think they are paired, I know I bought one last year and it went straight on and worked this is a Jtd though but Im guessing they all are the same. As long as it comes from the same engine (im guessing) you should be fine with just the fuse block

Think they are just having you on.

What a load of dogs dangly bits! The fuse box, fuses and relays are just a jumble of wires, solder and brass plates. You want to find another garage cause by the sound of it, they'll sell you an engine for an oil change.

Internal fuse box has body computer attached underneath it( feckin ridiculous idea), but the one by the battery is stand alone, so it should be plain sailing.

Ideal! Thank you all for the advices,I thought it wad just a bundle of and so did the mechanic, just the breakers being stupid/greedy.

On another note the engine change seems to have worked a treat and the rough running/grumbling/stalling has stopped, now to rip the old engine and find the problem!

Cheers
