General Replacing Rear Bushes and Wheel Bearings ..

oh dear, they dont look that old either (not much of a lip on one of the disks), what caused the scoring was it a badly fitted pad, stones, or did you let it wear down to far?.
also the disk in full view looks very pitted as well in the pic.
i would just scrap them and get a new set if i was you, they are not that expensive i changed two sets last year.

I agree with Roy, although they're not badly worn they're not in the best of condition. Seems a pity to have spend so much time and money reconditioning the rear axle only to top it off with disc's in poor condition. My guess is they would damage to pads.

These Brembo rear discs are only £36 including delivery.

When you eventually replace the front wheel bearings it would be an ideal opportunity to replace the front discs with Brembo too?

From what I saw she's a lovely car and your doing a great job rebuilding her. Go on, treat her to some new Brembos .. (y)

Lol what a daft bloke I am eh Stu.

Disc's will have to stay for now, They were stood for a long time and the car hasn't done much mileage since being stood up.
They will be on the list of things to do along with another rear calliper as the drivers side one has nearly had its day.

Well I'm off into town to get another metal brake pipe made up!!!

And hopefully get her back on her wheels.

I hope you get the remains of that bush out OK.

Well just thought i would update this post with a picture of the old girl sat on her wheels,

Not the best picture in the world but she drives 100% better now, Just the wayward front end to tame now. Need to buy another spring and a couple of shocks i think and replace the anti roll bar bushes too.

This has to be the worst worn rear axle bush I've every seen.
The rubber part of the bush has completely disintegrated.

It could be noisy at times if the road was rough, Wasn't as bad as it looks though. And i never in a million years thought it was that bad as when the car was on the ground it didn't look anywhere near so bad.
I can only assume the other side was replaced at some point in the past for it to show hardly any wear.
Re the garage, Well they have done the MOT the car every year that i have had it and to be honest don't know how they missed it as i was fully expecting them to pick it up, However i had every intention of doing the bushes at the time anyway.

But at least now it wont be such a handful when I'm having a bit of fun in it.

Oh do you want me to sent you those backing plates and the caps for the stub axles Stu.
If so drop me a pm with your address and i will get them sent up for you.

Hmm i wonder why mine has failed in such a big way and on one side like that.

PM sent. (y)

The passenger side bushes on both our Stilo's and my daughters were far more worn than the drivers side ones.

As we drive on the left, I wonder if the same passenger(left) side failure would apply to Stilo's driven on the right ? :chin:

That makes sense, as mine on near side rear have more play in them / rumble than the off side rear bush.
