Hi chaps, i have just been offered another stilo multi, the colour i want the wheels i want and the skyroof, new clutch, new timing belt but.... the engine managment light is on, now i have been told that it still drives lovely, so i did some more asking and got told the phase sensor was changed £184 the engine light went out but after a month and the fuel went low it came back on again, now the code was p0340 which i believe is the cmps?? or i could be wrong, so just did some more digging and asked if the aircon is cold and if the car will rev above 3,800rpm, the answer i got was it does whilst its driving but not at idle and the aircon is cold, so could it be just the cmps sensor or could be something else, i have not come across another one like this yet and this has everything i want bar it being a jtd as it is a 1.6 petrol.

unless thats what you meant by cmps....

either way all i can see online (no experience with this on a jtd) and most are saying the sensor is pretty bullet proof and it sounds like the timing is slightly out... or the belt has skipped a tooth.

maybe, just wondered if it was a fairly easy fix, read somewhere about the aircon sensor, and that is just a screw in item easier than sparks to do apparently, but need to see if i can make it work for me

any other ideas, if teh timing is out can it be put right easily? don't want to buy a lemon, but this car has every option that i really wanted so would appreciate any help at all

course its fixable! just a 'quick' re time but you will need all the locking tools and stuff to do it!
a garage may well charge you around £150 for doing it but if your handy it should only take a couple of hours tops!
