Hi all, just come back from my mechanic as the car was in having its rear pads changed and he done the rear driver side but he said that there was no way in hell he could turn the piston on the passenger side caliper.
His words was its completely gone, he said he used the correct tools and tried all other ways he knows but totally no go.

So has anyone got any solutions or a cheap place to get a new or used rear passenger caliper? Anyone on here breaking a stilo as I have been told that all stilo use the same rear calipers but I'm not 100% if that information is true.

Also think I need to change the same side handbrake cable as he said it needs doing but they are cheap enough and simple to do myself.

Need some info guys

Hi Chris,

Same happened to me, seized while driving to Dolgellau (was a couple of miles out...). Best thing to do is change it altogether as a used one may seize as well. I found an offer once on ebay, left rear caliper for £49.95, bargain looking at some other prices. Came with 2 year warranty, and had no problems since. I just looked on ebay, at the same seller I got my caliper from, it is now 200 quids, so scratch that then.

The way I see it know, you either get a cheap caliper off a breakers (under £30-40) so you can have something and/or look for some offers on ebay. If I see something I will let you know.

Here you go, found this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RH-Rear-B...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item56457da1c8

They give 2 year and 24000 miles warranty. And if you sent your old caliper back they give you £15 back, which means you actually pay 57 not 200 like others.

I got both rears from the same place a few weeks ago. You can get them slightly cheaper through their direct website but they ask for a bigger deposit. EBay is the best way for minimal outlay.
Remember that you have to send the old one back to get your deposit back. use collect+ for posting. Its way cheaper than the post office.

The sellers dispatch same day and the stuff arrives next day, so you could get one for Tuesday.

I have just bought one off eBay and also have just bought a new handbrake cable for the same side, so hopefully all will go well as this bloody car is a pain when something goes wrong.
How much does a usual garage charge to change a caliper?
