Just had the MW serviced at Rockingham cars - nice people who know how to treat their customers.(y)

Anyway, had the phone call saying it had a broken spring. This time it was n/s/r.

Never had a problem with a rear spring before. The car's on 96k now, surprisingly enough, the rear bushes are ok and they've done 75k miles. Been thinking of getting rid of it but it keeps on going, only issues have been suspension related and I am certain this is down to Northants roads more than anything else.

hi its the same here in Leicester with the roads, more speed humps than road. had my fds wish bone replaced about two months ago and yesterday got the same noise coming from the same place not had time to have a look yet but i think its the bush again,

Use to live in Leicester and still own a house there so know what you mean but they are nothing compared to Kettering - believe me. So far I have done Front Springs, 3 sets of drop links, both wishbones, the rear spring. The rear beam was changed under warrenty so that hasn't been a problem yet.

I did have a knocking noise from the front offside. It sounded like a stone caught in the disc but only happened with the steering turned. I traced it to the Disc guard being slightly bent. The clearence was so small that a nodule of corrosion on the lip of the disc was catching the guard.

just rear bushes and wishbone at the moment but i dont think it will be long.going to have alook in the morning see whats going on.wallet at the ready lol

My Stilo's from Rockingham originally. They seemed very decent when i called them about getting some work done. Unfortunately i moved house & there was a good dealer a little bit closer (still a 2 hour round trip) so i've gone there instead.

No rear spring (or other suspension) trouble with mine, though it's a 3dr and only usually has one or two people on board so the springs no doubt have an easier life than in a MW version.

However, most of my issues have been suspension related (front springs, front top strut mount & bearing on passenger side, drop link on drivers side, both front suspension arms). Only non-suspension related fault has been Crank Sensor last year @ 75,000 miles-ish & the aircon has just taken early retirement :( Electrics seem spot-on, as they have been in all the Fiats i've owned. Think the suspension could be of better quality in some places, but the roads here are woeful in places too so i'm sure that's more than half the problem - certainly the top strut mount failing on the passenger side only, could be attributed to all the drain gulleys that side of the car has endured over the miles (n)

Can't grumble though, bought it for £3950 in Sept 2008 @ 50,000 miles & still seems to be worth about £2000 @ 80,000 miles nearly 4 years later. Sprightly, reliable, genuinly economical car and thoroughly decent service from Fiat UK and the dealers i've used. For a 2nd hand 4 grand car, you can't ask for much more :slayer:
