Has anyone used a Stilo Abarth for any kind of serious competition such as Tarmac rallying.
We are looking to use an Abarth in New Zealand's Targa Rally and are looking for information on any kind of issues we may come across. We would be running the engine/transmission/brakes virtually standard. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this is a big step for us having used a 124 Special T up to now.

is it a semi auto? if it is then i'm not sure if the gearbox will take the hammering that a rally course will throw at it? i used to work for a company that built rally boxes and the biggest problem they found was the stress the the gears were going though when the car bounced up and down over humps and bridges and so on - although granted this may not be an issue with tarmac courses. they did make a few manual transmisson ones though? the 2.4 is a stonka of an engine if mildly tuned so would probably make a good choice of car to use? :)

Thanks for that guys. Our Targa rally covers about 750km of special stages on reasonable roads including a couple of 50km stages over a 5 day period so the car does not get the punishment it would on gravel. Are there any upgrades to the computer systems that would make it better for this purpose that anyone can recommend?

I couldn't recommend anything other thn a remap as I don't have a clue! lol I think there's people with abarths on here who have reached 200bhp with induction kit and remap, don't know if that's of any use for you? :s

One other thing off the top of my head is the Q2 diff, fits straight onto the Abarth gearbox and I believe these are pretty good?
