my Stilo has failed its MOT today and the garage told me the greatest joke Ive ever heard

"your looking at about £360 including labour mate and if you need the 14mm bushes instead of the 12mm it could cost you more"

Ive found a shop on ebay, (attached a photo of it) not sure if it would be worth buying these parts or paying roughly £100 for the lower wishbones from the aforementioned shop, Shop for parts. The final option I have is to pay about £56 including delivery for breakers parts. Would appreciate any feedback or opinions.

p.s. The part on ebay says it will fit my 2002 Fiat Stilo Dynamic 1.6 3door, But Im not sure if I would need the 12mm bushes or the 14mm?

Hi. I agree with gadgemyster you are just buying someone else’s troublewith second hand parts, I bought minehere http://www.eurocarparts.com same sort of money but you can collect themyourself so no waiting about.

The job itself is easy couple of hours, the hardest bit isthe pinch bolts on the swivel joint need to be completely removed (not justloosened) and they can be a bit stubborn, I would give them a good spray up a couple ofdays in advance it may make things a bit easier.

the bolt heads will tell you if you need the 12mm or 14mm bolt hole wishbone. Jack your car up whip the wheel off and get your socket set out if the same size socket fits on both bolt heads you want 12mm, if the bolt head on the front bolt is bigger than the one under the car then you'll need the 14mm.

jobs easy enough. all you will need is a can of wd40, trolley jack(£23 quid machine mart), ball joint splitter(machine mart sell good one for £9) decent socket set depending on which part of your wishbone has died you may be able to just replace the bush, both front and rear bushes available on ebay, stick the rear bush in 90degrees to your old one and it'll remove all free play from the wishbone.

front bushes are unlikely to die, rear bushes are ****, ball joint might be ok.

pressing in the replacement wishbone rear bush is reasonably easy with a couple of g cramps and some flat bar or a vice and a 38mm socket if you happen to have one.

£360! **** off!(n)
