I've changed the oil on my mini a million times before so how come it went so very very wrong with my 1.2 Stilo lol.

1. Buy my oil.
2. Go to Halfords to buy an oil filter.
3. Buy engine flush, as the oil was pretty manky (weird too because I hadn't even done 12,000 miles on it, although thats been over a year the oil was in the car)

So run the oil up to temperature, get the car up on ramps, check out the sump plug.... damn 12mm Hex, I only have up to a 10mm. So off a trudge to Halfords, wish I'd checked on here first for Sump plug size.

Get home, repeat, get car on ramps, run flush through for 15mins, then get my oil catch tank positioned, loosen sump plug and oil starts to gently flow, excellent, finally something is going right today.

Then.... BANG sump plug drops out and about 50 gallons of crude oil starts to spill out everywhere. I tell you 2.8litres of oil looks like a hell of a lot when your failing to catch it in the catch tank.

Lol, still alls well in the end. Changed the oil, and filter (eventually) and the drive is largely cleared up thanks to some drive cleaner and the pressure washer.

yeah forgetting to put the 3 filters on a Volvo HGV sucks donkey balls... 33litres of 10w40 at 8bar (116 PSI) splashing into an inspection pit... pffftt and you thought you had issues

yes i have done it more than once! ;)

You guys will be doing that at work though?.... not having the Exon Valdez disaster on your monobloc drive lol

I cleaned it up as best I could but there is still a mark, mineral oil had lifted completely in the past, so maybe its something to do with this Synthetic muck lol

I'll go buy some different drive cleaner, usually a combo of brands works wonders lol

Have to say though, although I'd only covered 10k on the oil, it had been in for an extra year, my milage of late has plummeted although its on the up again, hence the checking the oil in the first place.

Poor Stilo's been a little neglected of late due to imminent replacement (although thats not happening now). Time to start Lovin the Stilo again.

Ordered some new front pads, EBS Ultimax (same as I fitted on the back 2 years ago), and a new Air filter as the old one is a little grubby.

Get some Bilt Hamber Surfex ordered..... Use neat on spilt oil let to soak just as it starts to dry apply a drop more then brush in well then rinse with pressure washer if that wont shift it nothing will in my experience *(removed some 5-30 diesel engine oil the other week when my 5 l drip pan overfilled "a bit" :bang:

I'd order 5l of it as its got loads of uses around the garden and car

Excellent cheers for the link, I'll get some. I've used their dynax I think cavity wax in my minis sills when I replaces them. I had to replace a bit of inner sill the other day (previous beginner patch by me) and I noticed sills still looked good inside. So I know their stuff works braw.
