Has anyone put a new fan in the heater as my sisters has stopped working in her jtd with climate control. Garage reckon it will be the fan. I have checked fuse which is ok and the filter to it is fine. The fan doesn't speed up or make a noise as normal when it did work. I wondered if it was a resistor problem but does climate have resistors in them??? Any advice would be welcome.(y)

All fans require a resistor to vary the speed, try that first as it will possibly be a dash out task to replace the complete unit

Changed mine few months back..as having problems with fan only blowing on very low speed and would now and again fire in to life ..mine was climate control type even tried different display control panel which made no difference ..the blower motor has to be from a climate control type system as they use different fans 4 pin type on climate control fan and does not have resistor pack but a circuit board with in the fan it is possible to take apart but as sealed in resin difficult to test you can check circuit board for basic bad joints and signs of visible damage..
Sourced mine from breakers after checking it was from climate control system..also be aware that the fan for climate control was updated to Denso not sure what year they changed this ,,which I have in now and requires an extension on the wiring for it to reach as the plug connector on the denso fan is in a different postion fiat do make an extension cable..I am happy to work on electrics so with the correct gauge wire extended mine myself ..there is other threads on here that give more detail which was a great help when I did mine as the fan is awkward to remove but possible with removal of steering joint and strapping up clutch pedal in foot well..

fan replacement is steering UJ off, clutch pedal tied down, 3 self tapping screws (which are a bitch to get out unless you have a 1/4drive socket set and small hands). and an electrical connector IIRC.

As said though fan speeds are controlled off a PCB theres not a 'resistor pack' as such on these.

new heater fan required

The heater fan on my sisters JTD 115 estate has broken. Want to get another from the scrappers. Will one from an Abarth be the same? Its got climate control.

Well got a blower from a scrapper for £45. Was a bit of a pig to fit as it is in the most stupid place anyone could ever think of to put a fan but plugged it in and whalla. It works. (y)(y). The electronics on the old one were a well funny colour. The Fiat Dealers (stealers) wanted £40 to diagnose £200 +vat for the fan and god knows hows much to fit it. What a bunch of clowns.
My sister well happy now:D
