Hi all
I noticed this tapping/clicking noise from the pressing down of my clutch pedal on Monday.
Had a home mechanic look at it today and he says I need a new clutch kit. Does this noise from the pedal sound familiar to anyone? can anyone confirm a new kit is required?

Lastly can anyone point me to a tech guide to the fiat stilo 2004 clutch system?

cheers for the help

erm, engine?, the clutch systems are pretty simple on the stilos (baring selespeed) but every model is slightly different.
example, 1.6 has a smf and external slave, but the jtd has a dmf with a concentric slave...

also are you sure its not just clicking from the pedel auto adjuster, my 1.6 suffered with that until the day i wrote her off with 140k miles, it still clicked two clutches later and 1 gearbox rebuild later, it went back an number of times under warrenty to solve the problem but they never got to the bottom of it - i just lived with it in the end.
if your selecting gears ok, and the clutch isnt slipping (put the car in 3rd gear and try to pull off, if it stalls the clutch is generally fine if it tries to move off and kangaroos it could be on its way out) then i would just live with it, i know its annoying.

Clutch was about to totally go..my mate bought a new clutch kit and installed it for me for £160 all in. (y)
Showed me the old bits and two of the three bracket types things had broken away. Sorry that's as tech as I get.

When I pressed the clutch pedal down it would continuously tap/click in the engine area

Oh well, there you go then! Good price, mates rates I assume. Clutch should be good for a number of years now.

Very much mates rates I got several garage quotes and all was saying £300-£400
