I've been trying to sort out a few faults on my inlaws Stilo lately, namely airbag faults but I was trying to connect to the engine ECU to scan for fault codes with a KKL/VagCom and FES. When I switch to pin 7 on the cable and plug it in, FES cannot connect to the ECU and I get loose connection showing up in the dash!

Anyone had this happen? I'm thinking it might be software settings in FES?

mine throws 'loose conection' when the USB is unplugged from laptop so im gonna stick my neck out and say its a power issue!

... No a lead power issue... Could be anything from USB port in sleep mode to incorrect software config to knackered lead. Whats your com port settings?
