hi!

I'm going crazy! I have installed the buttons on my steering wheel but I have a problem I do not know how to solve.
I added 3 cables, two for the CAN network and the other cable for lighting. The pins of the cables is correct and steering wheel commands work 100% but the problem is the lighting, when I turn the key to ON position, steering wheel LEDs are lit for 2-3 seconds and then turn off and when I play the horn occurs same. That is, the steering commands work properly but the lighting alone for two or three seconds and off.

Anyone know what may be the errors or if there is any incompatibility?

Cheers!

I've already tried installing the cables in various ways, and I get that the commands of steering wheel work perfectly.
The problem is the lighting, the LEDs of steering commands only work 2-3 seconds and after the commands turn off, and do not know why this problem occurs.
The cables are placed correctly according wiring electric diagram but i dont know why the light of commands is turned off after 3 seconds .... any solution?

I have tried change two lines of CAN but the commands not working.

There is a way which if i connect the lighting cable and only one cable of CAN (i don´t know if correct CAN A or B) the LEDs working correctly (don´t turn off) but the commands not work, and if i connect two CAN lines dont work anything.

The conclusion for my problem is; or i get that the commands work correctly without lighting or i get that the commands have lighting but they don´t work correctly...

Solution??

normally the switching off of the leds behind the steering wheel buttons is an indication for this node being switched off because it it detected as a faulty or non-working node on the can-bus.
It is some sort of self-protection system to keep te rest of the can network operating correctly.
Is your steering wheel node detected by FES ? (node name NVO)

i don´t know what is FES node (node name NVO) ?? you mean fiat ecu scan?

Hi

I just prove with FES and my steering wheel node (NVO) is active, present.

But i have found a failure, when i entry in Body Computer he give me a error;

This is the error; U1602 - CAN LINE ERROR (NO VALID SIGNAL) FATAL.

i try to delete this error but the FES cannot delete it.

because can happen this?<

This error occurs but commands work 100%,

can be by a can incompatibility error?

This error refers to a bad connection between CAN lines. I have connected my steering wheel in this way:

-Pin 5 of D47 (airbag ring)--> lighting --> + Key 12v, for example of the CN+.
-Pin 4 of D47 (airbag ring) --> CAN line --> pin 4 of D097R (black plug above the fuse box).
-Pin 3 of D47 (airbag ring) --> CAN line --> pin 6 of D097R (black plug above the fuse box).

With this connections steering wheels commands works 100% but lighting don´t work.

regards

try if you can delete this error code after disconnecting both NVO can lines.
When this error does nor reoccur after erasing it you will have to check the can wiring of your NVO node.
according to the Elearn schematics you should swap the tow can lines, pin 4 of D47 to pin 6 of D097R and pin 3 of D47 to pin 4 of D097R....
Have a close look again, you will see i'm right...
Try to connect the power line (pin 5 of D47) after the initial 4 seconds check of the bodycomputer and see if this makes any diiference.

I have connected every wires as you said and I deleted the error but the same problem still occurs.

-3 D47 --> 4 D097R
-4 D47 --> 6 D097R
-5 D47 --> CN+ ignition.

I tried connecting pin 5 after 4 seconds and the LED is off too after 2-3 seconds... :(

I don´t know why can occurs this problem but i don´t know what can i do...

I think that the problem can be the ecu of steering wheel??

seems that steering wheel ecu cut the electricity after 2-3 seconds....

all wires are connected correct and the error was deleted yet...

any solution for my problem please??

i'm out of idea's - try to find a second hand NVO node and see if this one works o.k - if the problem persists you will have to dig deeper into the (can) wiring....

i have discovered that if i touch my klaxon the leds lighting turn on during 2-3 seconds too...

??

can be a problem of mass?

seems that load the buttons with light and after a few seconds buttons are downloaded, is probably that the buttons need some aditional connection?

yes i check all connections and steering wheel work good.

i don´t know which can be the relation between electricity 12v + key and CAN bus...?

there are two CAN lines in one hand, and in the other hand there is a + key,

Im sure that CAN lines are correct and pinout of D47 for lighting is correct too...

i don´t want to go to Fiat Home because they will want to pay a lot of money in order to find a problem that they don´t know neither...

im going crazy and i hope enjoy of my steering wheel working 100% lighting included!

:(

does your U1602 can fault still appear after key-on?
If so i think that's your problem, the leds going off after 2-3 seconds indicate the node switches itself off from the can network to protect the rest of the network.
However it's strange you mention the node is still working after the leds go off...
Did you measure the resistance between the two can lines?
It has to be around 60 ohms.

The error U1602 doesn´t appear. In this moment i don´t have any errors.

Is strange because i comprove only connecting the lighting without Can lines and the lighting going off after 3 seconds too. For this reason, i thought that don´t exist any relation between luminance and CAN lines.

Is necesary to connect CAN line in order to lighting working good?

You maybe could disconnect in your car the CAN lines of D47 (pins 3,4) and leave only connected the pin 5 of D47 to comprove if lighting working correct without CAN lines connected?

If you can, would be a great favor because it would help me isolate the problem very good.
