Alloy size

Hi, i'm thinking of getting some alloys for my stilo for its first birthday present but i'm not sure what size to go for. I'm not going to lower it and i'm not sure if it will look like a pram with 17's. Also how much would a set of 16" or 17" tyres cost me if I decide to get fiat alloys of ebay. Cheers.

Re: Alloy size

17's the way to go you can get the brio mag from your local Fiat dealer they have a few different sets of 17's in there. I would definately recommend lowering though, Eibach do a set of uprated springs for £157 (lowers the 30mm) if you go to www.rpm-motorsport.co.uk you might even get them cheaper, I bought mine from there & they were £133. All depends on your insurance really. (had to get that in there else the negotiator will pop up & start lecturing everybody again )

Re: Alloy size

Id say 17's, although since having mine you always have the thought that maybe i could of squeezed some nice 18's under there with a stupidly low profile tyre..........never mind. Do 16's if your going to slam the car, but 17 fits the arch nicer

Re: Alloy size

I'm going to look at some arbarth alloys (the ones in the classifides section) tomorrow hopefully. If they are in good nick then I will go for them. I think they will look good and they arent to flashy. Getting fiat alloys rather than aftermarket ones wont effect my insurance as much.

I'll try to get some pics of them on if I can work out how to do it! My car is a 3dr active in polar blue so looks a bit like the car in the pic above, I like those wheels a lot!

If you think about it, by putting 18s on you are only gonna need to loose half an inch of your tyre profile so it wouldn't be to bad, and then you can always get a slightly larger profile so in truth you could only loose 1cm of each profile which wouldn't detract from the ride too much.
It would make it tighter in the corners too

Re: Alloy size

I've Got The Standard 16" Alloys On My Jtd. The Only Comment I Can Make Is Search For All The Threads On Here Highlighting Problems With 17" Wheels- Tracking Problems, Premature Tyre Wear Etc..plus If There Is A Financial Consideration 16" Tyres Are A Lot Cheaper Than 17" .

You still get that odd tyre wear even on 16's. I fitted my airbox today & while I had the car in the air I noticed I had the same problem.
