I think I may need a new head gasket but I'm not all that sure

My oil level has been dropping steadily forsome time but I still have over half reading on the dip, last oil/filter change was june last year and have done roughly 17k from then till now. My coolant level has also been dropping away at a steady rate, but the temperature reading on the dash has never went over the half way point, even in this heat we're getting recently. Yesterday I had the car running stationary and held my palm over the exhaust tip and when I took my hand away there were drops of water on my palm  Is this a bad sign? Like coolant leaking through the head gasket? The car isn't burning oil though, the exhaust isn't blowing blue smoke and the coolant doesn't have oil mixed in with it

Anyone able to determine what's causing the loss in oil/coolant? All help is appreciated. Cheers!

It is normal for an exhaust to expel moisture. Some petrol driven cars literally pour it out in the first few minutes after start-up!

If you haven't topped up the oil in 17k I would say that's also good but a new filter and oil change now would not go amiss.

As for the loss of coolant I would look for seepage on the hoses as your oil level is reducing not increasing and you have no mayonaisse inside the filler cap.

That's reassuring then (y)

I'll check the hoses later on today then, what about the drop in oil level? Is that just a by product of running on this oil for so long? I was going to leave it till June but I should have realised that I was doing well over average milage for the year and should have done it maybe 2-3 months ago  I'll drain/refill the oil asap and monitor the level after that (y) I need to replace osf cv joint and both track rod ends could do with replacing so just needed to clarify this wee problem just to make sure there was nothing major to be added to this months bill :p

Cheers for the advice :D
