Hi All,

Managed (well my son did) to blow the right front big speaker (the one in the door)

Any recommendations on a replacement that will be an easy plug and play, without going to to much drilling and fitting.

Many thanks.

Gerhard

And this is how a blown speaker looks like. Cannot find a direct replacement + 6" speakers are no more the norm. Looking now at getting an "close-to" replacement and then made fit it inside the old fitting.

Isn't a scrappy or ebay an option (not sure about a scrappy as your location is showing as Windhoek)? Looking at ebay for 46750590 gives quite some results from especially Germany. Costs 10 euro's without shipping.

Update.

Took the afternoon off yesterday to do the speakers. Took me about 5 minutes to get the new speaker mounted in the old housing, and another 10 minutes to get all the connections on the door card connected again, and to put it back.

At this point all I can say is that this speaker is a good fit, with some minor mods to the old speaker holder, but it's reproduction rate is not close to that of the old speaker. More tinny with not the deep bass from the old one. But hey, it's working.

The ones you bought are speakers - you should have bought woofers.High frequencies are handled by the tweeters which are near the mirrors, the woofers handle just low frequencies...Sorry to say but this is totally wrong

Just go and get a pair of woofers in this diameter with the biggest magnet you can find. Assuming that you use the original CD player there is no need to go for something super expensive. When mine blew, I used a pair of stock woofers from a friend's Mercedes (he had already upgraded his sound system). The magnets on those were much bigger than those on the old ones - which were quite small - and I get a much sweeter bass now.

But remember: not speakers , woofers
