Hi I am a newbie so hope I am doing this correctly...but I need help...I have a 1.6 16v Stilo Active (52) 3dr I had the head gasket and some other work done at Christmas...came to check the oil just out of routine and noticed the end of the dipstick was missing.so I contacted the garage who immediately had the car back...located the end of the dipstick in the sump and removed FOC!! thankfully no damage done...other than I now have a short dipstick....I have been quoted£37+Vat by my local dealer so I tried ebay...however it seems they are all different lengths is there anyone out there with the same model 2002 52 reg the dip stick is (yellow capped metal coiled dipstick it used to have a flat end) who would mind measuring theirs for me??? I anticipate from end to end it would be roughly 59.5cm including the yellow top ??

Surely the garage who did the work (and broke the dipstick!) should pay for a replacement. That's what I would be insisting on...

i would have thought that any 1.6 would be the same be it a 3 door or a mw, they are the same engines.
go to some breakers and im sure they would be able to help you out with another one, over 40 sheets is way too much imho..
i confused how they could actually break it, its not like its a working part, pure crazyness - obviously the fitter was the dipstick here!!

I've just measured it on mine stilo 1.6 (5 door, dynamic, 2002.year) and it shows:
- total length = 595mm
- length of the "metal" part of dipstick = 535mm

I beleive these are all the same on 1.6 engines.
