Finally got round to installing my Fiat original alarm in my Stilo today, only took me 6 months to be bothered :D

I'm having a couple of problems though, the car is reporting bonnet open on the dash - easy one i think that i installed the bonnet switch upside down!

The dash light is flashing nicely when the car is locked up, if I lock it when i'm inside and open the door the indicators flash like crazy but there is no alarm siren. Also when locked and i'm in the car the sensors dont seem to be picking up my motion.

Tried Fiat ECUScan to fire the alarm and got an error (sorry cant remember which one).

I'm hoping that it's the bonnet sensor and maybe the wiring from the siren to the ecu that's causing the issues.

If not, where and what should i start checking?

Cheers

Just a quick update, the sensors are activating in the car for movement and the dash is reporting attempted theft after triggering.

The bonnet switch is installed correctly, so I'm hoping it's a bad earth.

I have the siren and bonnet switch earthed to the battery at the moment, I'll try and find a new spot.

Thanks Roy, I'll have a try with ECU Scan now.

As a bit more of an update, I switched the earth for the bonnet switch and the siren and I'm seeing the same behaviour as earlier. The alarm works but without the siren sounding, and I'm getting the bonnet open error still.

I'm loathe to pull out the fuse box again and start checking that wiring because it was such a bugger of a job.

At the moment I'm thinking duff siren; the bonnet switch connects directly to it, and from then onto the body computer.

Any ideas how I can check the siren?

Cheers

Re: More Alarm Shenanigans... (now with broken electrics)

So I double checked the fuse box connections today, they all match the instructions completely.

Unfortunately after installing the fuse box back in I have no access to the button cluster on the drivers side - which means that I cant disregard the bonnet open warning and the car beeps like crazy!!!

Also the ashtray and heater controls dont light up, and the heated rear window isn't working... I pulled the fusebox again and visually checked that all the plugs were connected ok, and they were.

Not sure what to do now? Does anyone know if these components are on the same connector or relay on the fusebox?

When you wired it up with the wiring diagram did you follow the wiring colour code or the pin numbers that the wires go into the plug at for the connections

Both, the diagrams have a number for the cable which corresponds to the colour key at the beginning, and a separate number for the pin which is the actual pin number on the plug.

Are you saying that it's one or the other?

Well the colour codes are not always correct, but the pin number is, so as long as the wires that got to the body computer go to the correct pin you should be ok, but don't rely just on the wiring colour for the wi to the body computer (y)

I'm going to pull it all out I think, I've no way of knowing if the system had a fault to begin with.

I definitely can't do with all the electrical faults that have now appeared. Im hoping that once its out everything will return to being fault free.

Yowsers, took the car out earlier and it seems to be getting worse - Security Failure, Engine Failure, Loose Connection all appeared.

I also got bumped up the backside by some woman who had just had her car cleaned - wet brakes!

I'll read the fault codes in a bit, not going to have the time to disconnect the alarm until next week though...

Removed the alarm today, all faults and weirdness have disappeared apart from the bonnet open error!

How weird is that? There is no connection from the sensor to any part of the can system, and no alarm connections remain...

I might try the earthing of a bc pin detailed in the sticky above after I do a proxy alignment.

I tried earthing pin 24 yesterday, unfortunately it didn't solve the error!

Is there the possibility that with the removal of the alarm before clearing the error that the alarm modules would need to be present to clear the fault?
