Technical everyone with airbag faults

roof of the lower glove boxsmall panel approx 4 ich back in middle, if ya decide to swap this one its easier to take out the glove box makes acessing wires easier

Are you sure there is an orange one there or am I meant to be cutting the yellow

I have a theory that this is more likely to happen in cars with cloth seats. We have had 5 Stilos in total, the two we still have are full leather and have no issues, the three that we no longer have all had cloth seats and all had the airbag problem. This makes me wonder if the problem is more to do with the sensor in the seat than the actual wiring and leather protects it from damage better than cloth. Has anyone had this issue in a car with a leather interior I wonder?

leathers are the same... i bought mine with an airbag light on! the biggest issue i think is with baby seat on the OCS... it overstresses the mat and breaks it

theres a thousand threads on here saying check the connections... but this thread seems to be going no where.

get FES rigged up and acutally give us some codes to work with

I have
pASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SQUIB O C
Front passenger weight sensor internal errors
drivers SIDE AIRBAG SQUIB valve too high
control unit power supply valve too low
drivers SIDE AIRBAG SQUIB o c
pASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SQUIB valve too high
passenger airbag explosive charge 2nd stage valve too high

Means nothing to me

so the codes you have are:-
02 Control Unit Power Supply Value Too Low
0E Driver Side Airbag Squib O/C
0E Driver Side Airbag Squib Value Too High
0F Passenger Side Airbag Squib O/C
0F Passenger Side Airbag Squib Value Too High
09 Passenger Airbag Explosive Charge 2nd Stage Value Too High
32 Front Passenger Weight Sensor Internal Errors
is this correct?

This will almost certainly be the OCS mat control unit that comes attached to the mat. you wont be able to modify the circuitry to make good and will either need a new OCS unit (£300 from fiat) or an emulator (£50 off ebay)
  • Front Passenger Weight Sensor Internal Errors

all these are possibly wiring faults but they should clear with a quick clean of the connectors, 'Value Too High' means there is high resistance in the circuit, 'O/C' faults are nearly always accompanied by the 'Value Too High' and the most likely culprit is a wiring fault... worst case is the airbag unit itself but these are expensive and dont 'usually' fail
  • Passenger Side Airbag Squib O/C
  • Passenger Side Airbag Squib Value Too High
  • Driver Side Airbag Squib O/C
  • Driver Side Airbag Squib Value Too High
  • Passenger Airbag Explosive Charge 2nd Stage Value Too High

this is almost certainly a dicky battery or a stored code it wont be a blown fuse as you seem to be able to read the ECU
  • Control Unit Power Supply Value Too Low

heres what i have found so far and i know its not complete so just bear with me i found it quite quickly with google

01 Airbag control unit ===> 'Clock Spring' of Steering wheel
02 Airbag control unit supply voltage
03 Control light for airbag system
04 Earth connection to control unit housing
05 Display for deactivation of airbag, passenger side
06 Crash Signal
07 Crash Signal
08 Airbag ignition circuit, driver side
09 Airbag ignition circuit, passenger side
0B Seat belt tension ignition circuit, driver side
0C Seat belt tension ignition circuit, passenger side
0E Sidebag ignition circuit, driver side
0F Sidebag ignition circuit, passenger side
12 Resistance seat-occupied sensor, passenger side
14 Keylock switch for disabling passenger airbag
15 Driver side front side impact sensor
17 Passenger side front side impact sensor
19 Cable configuration
1A Warning lamp circuit
21 Ignition circuit, window bag, driver side
22 Ignition circuit, window bag, passenger side
28 Power supply
2F = 47 Rear driver's side airbag explosive charge
32 Front Passenger Weight Sensor Internal/Unknown Error
34 Passengers Side 1st Stage Head Curtain Airbag Front

if anyone has a full list of codes ill add it to my OBD2 Excel document and update in my sig
